All Irish media is running with the narrative that Met Eireann dropped the ball about the floods last week. I had absolutely no idea that meteorologists were in charge of building flood defences that should have been finished twenty years ago
A coffee shop in Galway will be opening their doors for a period on Christmas day.
Mocha Beans in Claregalway will open for a few hours from 1pm to 3pm for any one who may be alone or homeless during the festive period.
‘If you are cold at home, or if you are homeless, we’ll also be supplying free hot water bottles, blankets, anything that we can do to help.’
Trevor added that items available would be extended past 3pm, and a box with blankets etc would be left outside for anyone who may want to remain anonymous.
‘That’ll also be extended for our coffee shops in Ballina, Pearse Street and Foxford Road,’

This afternoon in Brussels I appealed to members of the INTA trade committee in the European Parliament to proceed with full analysis and support for a series of amendments I had put down to effectively take unsafe meat products out of the rotten Mercosur trade deal.
In light of suggestions the committee will fast-track the process and ignore my amendments next Monday when they vote - I warned the MEPS of the implications of ignoring major new concerns over the use of illegal hormone growth promoters in Brazil as detected again - by EU authorities today - and listen at the very end - the Commission responded to my comments about high quality butter exports from Ireland / by having to except my declaration that it’s a success because if is SAFE to eat !!
A milestone worth celebrating 🎉

"And maybe those that grow with chemicals have to demonstrate and show the chemicals that were used in the production?"
"If that was on the supermarket packs, I wonder how our behaviour would change."

This are heart cells. Beating.
Using stem cells, scientists can grow cardiac tissue in a petri dish. The cells self-organize to form microchambers, which begin to beat like a full-sized heart.
"With a plan, with a mission and it was to hear Amhrán na bhFiann..." what a brilliant interview (& a nod to camogie) from European Champion Ciara Mageean 👏 #roma2024#athletics#CiaraMageean
What the Ministers conveniently neglect to mention is the grant has been cut by €16 per child to €80.
You’d hope the media pick up on this & do their jobs. Education is already grossly underfunded.
We’ve plenty of money to splash about in this country. This cut is a disgrace.
