Its failure was due two dramatic (and ultimately unrelated) accidents shortly after it went into effect and the subsequent feedback loop of media frenzy/frequency illusion/public opinion.
While there are a few decently accurate tv shows depicting the intelligence community, Burn After Reading is the movie that comes closest to showing what it's *really* like.
Again, if you want to truly understand Washington politics, don't watch House of Cards - watch Burn After Reading and probably Thank You For Smoking.
And the intelligence community is more Zero Dark Thirty than Mission Impossible.
@mapeslover69 im so pro-gun that it would make charlton heston blush, but dont pretend it's weird. Most countries ban guns, but most also have alcohol and cars and in the context of his death, it just makes it a compelling talking point for opponents. There's nothing weird about it.
