July 10, 1999, at Obafemi Awolowo University, Black Axe brutally murdered George Iwilade (Afrika) and four others in cold blood.
George Iwilade, a.k.a "Afrika" 21-year-old, 300-level Law student and Secretary-General of the Student Union was a fearless, brilliant student and easily recognized for his traditional attire.
He openly fought against cultism on campus.
Afrika led the raid in school were Black axe was gathering, they seized guns, axe, dagger, black clothing and regalia of the Black Axe confraternity.
The nine students were handed to the university authorities and the local police. The suspects were discharged and acquitted by a magistrate court after the evidence mysteriously went missing during the trial.
Then came the revenge:- Friday night, July 9, 1999, thousands of Kegites from other universities across Nigeria gathered at the OAU campus for their festival.
The crowd was massive. There was loud singing, drumming, and palm wine drinking. 40 masked Black Axe members wearing black used this opportunity to enter the campus unnoticed.
By 3-4 a.m, July 10 , They entered the students hostel shouting the names of specific student union leaders, firing guns.
They entered Awolowo hall, Room 273, Block 8, Africa was shot on head in the bed while sleeping and repeatedly cut with an axe, leaving him with no chance of survival.
They searched for the SUG President Lanre Adeleke ("Legacy"), who escaped through the balcony.
Four innocent students were killed, Eviano Ekelemu - a 400-level medical student who met them on the way, Babatunde Oke, Efe Ekpede and Yemi Ajiteru, a graduating student who only returned to campus to clear his carryover.
This is one of the darkest chapters in the history of Nigerian universities which brought the country to a standstill.
Today is 27 years and every July 10, students, alumni, and civil society groups organize candlelight processions, symposiums, and remembrance marches for the OAU 5.
George Iwilade "Afrika" lost his life but his story continues to inspire generations of OAU students.

WANTED BANDIT ABUBAKAR USMAN CAPTURED IN DELTA FOREST
Yesterday, I was informed about the abduction of Mrs. Blessing Chiedu, a native of Umunede Kingdom, who was kidnapped on 2nd July, 2026, along the Ani-Ifekide Farm Road, Ubulu-Uku. Her kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦100 million from her family.
Immediately after receiving the information, I escalated the matter, and the Delta State Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Asaba, led by CSP Osakpolor, swung into action.
Using our Hydra Tech Surveillance System, a coordinated rescue operation was launched, and yesterday, Mrs. Blessing Chiedu, a native of Umunede, was successfully rescued alive and unharmed along the Ubulu-Unor/Ashama Road.
Following her rescue, we immediately launched a manhunt for the fleeing kidnappers. The operation continued throughout the night until approximately 6:45a.m today, when our Surveillance system located the gang to their hideout in the Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta Forest.
A gun battle ensued, during which our combined team overpowered the criminals. One of the most wanted suspects, Abubakar Usman, was successfully captured, while other members of the gang escaped into the forest with their firearm.
Investigations reveal that Abubakar Usman and his gang have been responsible for several kidnapping operations across Igbodo, Umunede, and surrounding communities, where they have extorted millions of naira in ransom from innocent families.
I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori @RtHonSheriff, for providing the enabling environment that made this operation possible. I also thank the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, for his unwavering support and the officers and men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Asaba, for their professionalism. Thank you DSP Paul Xdot for doing this for our community.
My appreciation also goes to the members of the Nigeria Forest Security Service Area Command Office, led by DC Admin Ebube Jegbefume; members of the Ubulu-Uku Anti-Cult Group; Ward 5B Councillor, Hon. Okocha Martins (Giant); Pastor Jude Chukwuweike Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, for his continuous support; and the Mayor of Orumba South LGA, Anambra State, Hon. Shadrack Azubuike, for his invaluable assistance during this operation.
Our commitment to protecting lives and securing our communities remains unwavering. We will continue to work tirelessly alongside security agencies and community stakeholders to ensure that criminals have no hiding place.

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
I enjoy watching Daniel Sturridge’s @DanielSturridge pre-match analysis videos, they're so fun and different!!!
He said, Lionel Messi is “The Balon Don” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Bilkis29 Male centered women will always find excuses to stay glued to their abusers. They'll keep using innocent kids as excuses. Even when the kids are old enough to advise them to leave, they still give those same kids silly excuses to stay back
Congratulations, Cristiano. An incredible milestone and a testament to your consistency, discipline, and longevity at the highest level of the game. Wishing you continued success.
The Lord blessed my family and me with the gift of a set of twins after twenty-three years of marriage.
We didn’t do IVF because we had tried that five times and it failed every time. The doctor told us eventually that my womb didn’t develop. I had a hypoplastic womb. My husband had fathered two children with my blessing with another woman in another state, where he was transferred to in 2015 (Delta).
I stayed in Lagos and managed his gas company and our other assets at the time. He was a very good man, the only son of his parents, and it was only fair that he get to have children and raise his own children to perpetuate his lineage.
I was not coerced or tricked into allowing him to have a baby mama. I pay the woman for the upkeep of the children monthly, and I also take care of the children’s school fees and other needs. We have built a good life together from scratch, and I can never imagine being with another man apart from him for life.
He loves me, and that is all that matters to me. He never for once treated me with disrespect after he became a father, regardless of how much I braced myself for it. He was with me as normal as he ever was. he didn’t patronise me or pity me or stop having sexual relations with me. I didn’t know I was pregnant until I was preparing to come for the programme we had in March this year.
It was that week that the doctors said I was four months gone. It was that cross over communion or the one before it, but I remember that after taking that communion, I saw a vision in which an hourglass surrounded by two oscillating wheels descended upon my womb as I slept.
I reached out to Brother Gbenga that day and asked him what it means for the wheel within a wheel to enter into a person, and he said, “Pregnancy”. I just took it as a pregnancy of ideas or something of such because I don’t have a womb, and I have reconciled myself with this truth and made peace with it.
Today, I have in my arms a baby girl and a baby boy. Two wheels of light that I know have been birthed for supernatural exploits in their generation.
The Lord has asked me to reach out to Brother Gbenga for the names, and he sent the names without hearing my story as I have written it here because I kept my matters private due to the peculiarities of my family dynamics.
People who know your story tend to attract judgment and influence your decision-making process as a person.
Ophannim and Galgallim, We call them Hope and Glee for short. I write this to fulfil the Spirit of prophecy behind their birth. The names confirmed the prophecy that Brother Gbenga sent to me when I told him the good news of the pregnancy of the children. he sent me a scripture from Isaiah 27 1-3 with the following prophecy.
The Lord said, as soon as they are announced, the spirit of light will spread all over the nations and children of purpose and destiny from all over the realm of glory shall burst forth like stars and shine. The Lord said the offering for this announcement should be as a first fruit offering for ONLY those who are stirred to give it by the Spirit. It is an ushering of light and bright colours, the kind that has never been seen before.
The Lord said “Open the barns of comfort and bring forth the fire that burns but that does not consume”. That was all the prophecy as i received it sir. This is my testimony to the Glory of God.
