The flighty silhouettes peppering the bare branches are none other than zebra finches! A most beautiful half hour spent watching them bathe and drink outside the Arid Lands Botanic Gardens cafe yesterday.

A nice thing to happen in my garden in 2023: my first Sturt Desert Pea flower of the season blooming!

Finished 2022 bird list with a yellow-tailed black cockatoo flyover sighting, taking me to 85 species seen last year. Will have to get out birding more during my maternity leave this year!

I didn't keep a bird sighting list in 2021 (didn't get out much thanks to pandemic and parenting), but seeing a chirruping wedgebill and rainbow bee eaters on today's evening run has inspired me to keep it up for 2022!
