@nadhimzahawi@TheSun Here's what we teach young people: be kind; be respectful; admit when wrong; have humility; be truthful; respect others; respect the rules; obey the law; avoid hypocricy; do the right thing. Then we all watch in utter despair as those in power do exactly the opposite to this.
@Baddiel Wait… is this the inspiration for Pulp’s Common People? It sounds uncanny in the verses and Common People has the lyric ‘She came from a Greece and had a thirst for knowledge…’
@TeacherBusy Agreed. In schools where consequences (Cs etc) work, you actually rarely have to use them as great behaviour is truly embedded in the main part. Takes time though. How many Cs would you prefer to have though before removing? Anything below 2cs seems very harsh imo!
@implausibleblog Excellent idea. We have a no emails policy after 6pm workdays and it’s worked brilliantly. The problem is, sending an email implies a response is needed, even if the person sending it does not require an immediate response, which puts pressure on the recipient. Def a welcome idea
I have a question which I simply can’t answer and maybe someone with a better knowledge of economics can.
If the Tories saved us so much, by cutting every single public service to the bone, where has that enormous amount of saved money gone?
Please RT to find the answer.
@virginmedia Hi. Internet installed and working. The technician has phoned head office to work out where our TV box is. When it is finally located / delivered, we’ve then got to get a technician out again to sort that bit out.
@virginmedia - your service has been exceptionally poor so far. Virgin broadband box sent, but no Tv equipment at the same time. I’ve had to chase it twice, was told the broadband installer would bring it now. Guess what, they’ve arrived and don’t have it. On top of that…
Connect to the broadband unit, so now, when the TV box eventually comes, we’ve got to get another installer out to fit wire half way around our living room in order to use the service. Absolutely brilliant, so glad I went with you guys.
…you didn’t make it clear that the broadband needed a special fitting, so we’ve had to wait all week to have that fitted, today between 1pm and 6pm, which is a ridiculous window. Of course, the technician arrived at 5.55pm. Now, we’re being told that the TV box has to also
@DrRLofthouse The problem with bursaries and focusing on teacher starting salaries, whilst understandable, is that unfortunately a large proportion of trainees go into the profession and then leave after two or three years, tops. Therefore, it ends up being a net loss or at best equilibrium.
@DrRLofthouse I like the idea of rather than successive governments focusing on attracting new teachers into the profession (which we undoubtedly do need), they focused on retaining the vast pool of experience already there. Retainer pay / secondments etc would go a long way.
@mazzypopstar Still alive; does stuff with his band, including this amazing version of Somebody that I used to Know. Well worth checking out if you like the original https://t.co/Tl5LKWe6Ia
