I remember Ryan mentioning during S2 promo that by the end of the season, there’d be 2 people who knew Helaena was a dragon dreamer/magical. One of them was always bound to be Aemond. And tbh for a while I thought the second person would actually be Larys, but once Helaena was in Daemon’s Harrenhal vision I knew he was the second person. So both Daemon and Aemond now know that Helaena is magical and somehow both of them end of at the GE. What are the chances?!

In all reality I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they had some scenes together. It’d make sense and I know Matt & Phia prolly petitioned it bc they’re good friends. So we’ll see!

Trying to come at this from an unbiased angle, but seriously, what is the point of this article? It’s one thing for a director to say a few words of their own headcanon or whatever but this is like a page and a half of Geeta talking about Aemond & Helaena and how Ryan & Sara told her about their dynamic.

They could’ve easily left it at “oh yeah Helaena is more in danger than she’s ever been” and moved on completely and that would be that, but they didn’t. Like I know I’m out there with the theories sometimes lmfao but showrunners and directors don’t just agree to put out articles like this if they’re not going to elaborate.

This actually makes loads and loads of sense.

Aemond sees himself as the “ruler” over Westeros in a sense and he certainly sees himself as the head of family. Ewan said it himself in the article that came out today. Aemond sees himself as a “father figure” of sorts in their family now. That’s a huge plot point in Oedipus itself. People always jump to the “oh momson fucking” in Oedipus bc it’s the most controversial and discussed topic in the entire story but there’s a lot more to it than just a son wanting to fuck his mother. Ewan could easily be referring to Aemond being an “Oedipus” like character in more than one way.

Yeah, I don’t really understand it either. Like Alicent is not a perfect mother by any means and frankly idk if she’s capable of true maternal love/familial love (which is Otto’s fault but that’s another topic), but Aemond acting like he’s the most starved of their mother’s affection is a little ridiculous. I do get the concept of Alicent depriving him of that attention after killing Luke & everything that’s transpired and then him spiraling over it, but the whole idea of “Aemond’s never felt love” is nonsense to me. Before Storm’s End, he was easily Alicent’s favorite child if she ever had one. She resents Aegon, she’s never fully connected w Helaena, and she doesn’t know Daeron.

Idk, the whole concept of it is definitely not my favorite because it just doesn’t make sense.
