A “society where experts and educated people don’t matter”? It’s even worse. In today’s world, too many people consider education, professional experience, and the resulting expertise to be disqualifying. Just look at the upcoming choice for public health.
@4FoolsCulture@TristanSnell The first thing to think out is whether an actual lawyer can affirm that it’s even legal in your state. The second thing is how to convince the people who aren’t doing this that it’s okay that others do. And how many places can I hold at a time? Like, for 3 busloads of voters? 🤔
And before you leave for the polls, make sure you know all the local propositions and similar items on your ballot, what’s really at issue, and which vote best reflects your values.
Remember for voting today:
- If you're in line, STAY in line
- Bring your own water and snacks
- Don't wear your Harris-Walz gear to the polls
- If they won't let you vote, ask nicely to cast a provisional ballot - they are required to let you
@4FoolsCulture@TristanSnell Just what would the person behind that spot in the line—and the next person and the next person and so on—say about your taking the place of someone ahead of them? And if the polls close before you get there, will the poll workers let you step into line? They probably can’t. 🤔
@Apoxonu80 @TristanSnell If you didn’t notice a box on the application for your driver’s license that you were supposed to check if you are a citizen—or if you did and it was missed in data entry—then a GOP secretary of state would purge your registration. Then the provisional ballot is your only option.

@BudEllwood @mcs_phd Nobody has to pay to attend DonOld’s rallies. People are saying some get paid to attend, though. And Trump literally says there isn’t an empty seat in the house.
⛔️No RFK Jr—The CDC lists water fluoridation as one of 10 great public health achievements of 20th century, recommended by nearly all public health, medical organizations, including Am Dental Association, Am Academy of Pediatrics, U.S. Public Health Service, and the WHO.
@JlockROC@ifetalksback Even that requires far more work than these people are willing to put into their idealized “farm life.” Those who do succeed in the venture you described will not have engaged in it under the misconception that life would be easy.
Trump's desire to cancel the CHIPS Act follows a very predictable pattern: Anything that would make the U.S. more capable of resisting Chinese/Russian domination is something that Trump will eventually oppose.

Incredibly, people are still writing stories about how only the elite has benefited from the strong economy. In fact, the biggest gains have gone to low-wage workers
@jrterrier5 The big issue here is that Ohio allows only one early-voting location per county. Franklin County (Columbus is in it) is the most populous county in the state. Whatever their party, voters in Franklin County have a much more difficult time voting early. That shouldn’t be.
@TedClayton8 @the_transit_guy Also the larger the county. That might not be a significant factor in Ohio, but Texas has half a dozen counties that are each twice the area of Rhode Island. And one drop box per county for voting by mail. (You can drop it in the drop box instead of in the mail.)
Of all the perils of a second Trump presidency, letting RFK Jr. anywhere near our public health systems looms the most dangerous.
“I’m going to let him go wild on health,” Trump said in NYC. “I’m going to let him go wild on the food. I’m going to let him go wild on medicines.”
Some of you may be considering sitting this election out, or voting for a third-party candidate, because you strongly disagree with Kamala Harris about Gaza.
This thread is for you 🧵
@TimInHonolulu I remember a friend bleeding after an illegal abortion, in pain but afraid to go to the hospital because she would be arrested.
Abortion bans kill women
It’s not new, & it’s done to force women to choose life or liberty.
@RealRayrita@KlasfeldReports Mail-in voting provides the opportunity to research issues as you vote. You don’t even have to finish the ballot the same day you start marking it. That accommodates needs not met by early voting. We need mail-in ballots as a viable option everywhere.
