@DorrasWalker @TerritoryLabor's lies, obfuscation, conflicts-of- interest and gaslighting critics on gas and climate is identical to their record on water and cotton. Sacrificing our survival for quick industry 💰💰
Gas giant INPEX is emitting nearly 8X more toxic chemicals than it was supposed to, just 4km from Darwin's CBD.
In the last decade INPEX has made more than $40bn, and paid $0 in royalties, $0 in PRRT.
Is this the kind of industry we want to support? 🧵

This is the crux of it—the Labor govt can't just make 1 good decision (Toondah) & charge on w destruction for urban dev at Appin, Cranbourne, Lee Point etc, for agricultural dev at stations across NT, & for fossil coal & gas projects on land & at sea across Australia
@RBVogue @kirsty_howey @tomdquinn Tamboran’s auditor: the Group has: “not generated revenues since inception, and unlikely to generate earnings in the foreseeable future; “an accumulated deficit of $117,667,329 since inceptiion"; “significant expenditures planned for the unproved properties in the next 12 months.

@kirsty_howey @tomdquinn Tragically, it's also just how governance is done in the NT. The population is hostage to their suicidal shortsighted self- interest and cronyisn.
Gas is a big deal in the NT, right?
Did you know the entire gas industry in the NT employs just 0.7% of the NT workforce, and pay NO ROYALTIES...i.e. get the gas for free.

@kirsty_howey Sadly the words of the Police Commissioner about 'changing environmental conditions' are the closest we have to an acknowledgment of the climate crisis by an NT public official.. It's madness.
@Jess_Panegyres We met with the NT climate minister yesterday. The message was 'we're doubling down on new fossil fuel projects and trying super hard to increase RE in the grid'. No-one prepared to say what proportion of NT emissions local energy use accounts for.
