Global Climate Finance will have to play a crucial role in preventing a Climate Disaster, and results-based payments like the Green Impact Fund for Transformation concept have the potential to ensure that restricted Global Climate Finance is used as efficiently as possible.
While High-Income Countries used to be responsible for the vast majority of Global Carbon Emissions in the past, their share is now (despite very high per capita emissions - and especially correcting for consumption) down to 35%. 🌱🌍

We are very glad that our policy proposal Green Impact Funds For Transformation has been recognized as one of the Top "8 🇪🇺 Policy Priorities for Global Decarbonization" by Future Matters in their most recent "Policy Priorities for Global Decarbonization" publication 🌍🌱
@future_matters@IEEP_eu We are convinced that results-based climate auctions will have to play a major role in making global climate finance not only more efficient but fairer and better able to contribute to our urgent need for solutions. 🌱
"It is essential that no issue is #LeftOffTheTable. And yes, as I have been saying, we must look for ways to ensure the inclusion of the role of #FossilFuels."

"It is a fantasy (...) that if we could only get to net zero for (...) our (national) carbon PRODUCTION, that would mean that we would (...) no longer be causing any further global warming. It is a very dangerous illusion." 1/
In his book, @Dieter_Helm stresses the importance of a holistic approach to reach Net Zero: Rather than focussing on net zero targets within national borders, imported CO2 emissions - up to 63% of national carbon footprints - need to be considered. 2/
"A (...) policymaker should be thinking, "What can we do to accelerate the transition in countries like (...) India or Brazil?"
Green Impact Funds for Transformation would achieve an efficient, market-based distribution of Global Climate Finance.

Wealthy countries have committed to mobilizing $100bn per year to support climate change mitigation and adaptation in low and lower-middle-income countries (LLLMICs): how can it be best allocated? 4/4
Africa should be viewed as a potential climate champion, not a climate victim. But for it to achieve its potential rapidly, given the urgency of our climate challenge, it needs support. That's what GIFT is about.
