Meleek Thomas, selected 34th by Cleveland, has signed a 4-year contract worth $9.3 million, source told @TheFieldOf68.
First 3 years and 6.4 million is guaranteed, per source - which is actually more guaranteed money than picks 26-30 in this year’s draft.
I was critical of Roc Nation’s Sam Permut - but he got Thomas a good deal here. Thomas probably could have made about 4 million or so going back to college this season.
@Grizzlies_szn@chriman_ Am I wrong but isn't the Lakers pick Top 4 protected? I doubt a team with Luka on it will ever drop that far but with the lottery you never know.
@ohokvontae@Grizzmama139463 But I disagree about SPJ not being a distributer. Maybe last year was an outlier because he was actually a scoring option given the players we put on the floor, but given he is in a true pg role he will distribute.
JA Morant wanted to be traded to Miami Heat. And if his value was higher because he didn't missed half of each season over the last 3 years we probably would have been able to get him there. But instead, he had no value and we traded him as far away as we could, Portland lol
@mollyhannahm I can't speak on Grant just yet. But Ced, Boozer, Edey, Wells, GG, Santi etc might just be the most coach-able group of guys ever assembled. If TI can't run his system now it will never work.
@AbbasBokhari17 In a perfect world we play just well enough to be on the cusp of play in, still find our way into lottery with our pick, and the Jazz end up with any pick outside the top 5. After next season we will have more clarity about where our young guys stand development wise.
@ESPNNBA This allows Ced to play more SG position this season as opposed to his SG/SF hybrid role he did last year. His rebounding numbers may go down slightly but he will take more FGs.
@parkervb901 There will be a nice honeymoon stage for both he and Portland. However, I would bet my mortgage that in a year or two we will see the same behavior towards coaches, teammates, front office that we had here the last several years. Right now he's gonna be playing for contract.
.@bridgestonegolf is celebrating America’s 250th birthday with some limited-edition gear: Tour B RX balls, hat and a coin.
Giving away all three. Just need to RT and be following along to enter. I’ll pick a winner on Wednesday. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Massive win for Memphis to not have to give up any picks. Massive Loss that they didn't do this 3 years ago and get a kings ransom. JA would have got us 4 1st round picks if he just would have played a full season last year I am certain of it.
BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray, sources tell ESPN.
