In the spirit of being accountable to a constituency (as academics should be), I am making my recently filed dissertation immediately public and it will be searchable in Proquest for citation purposes as soon as it is accepted by my university. https://t.co/SIqHF42moC
Academics write for each other, not for people.
Steven Pinker has spent over four decades doing the opposite, and thinks current academic writing is "enormous wasted effort."
"There's an awful lot of brilliant work, really smart people in academia. Why are they doing it? Just to entertain each other? Taxpayers pay for it. It should be accessible. Why should I have to read a paragraph five or six times?
It gets under my skin when academics devote so much brainpower into the scholarship and then just blow off the essential task of letting the world know what you've done."
Tbh, my main gripe about the humanities is they don’t make philosophers train wrestling anymore. They wouldn’t come for us so hard if they knew we could beat their asses.

To all new Marxists, I know the jargon can be daunting. Here's a list of a few definitions to help you get started:
Idealism = doing Marxism in the most ideal way
Revisionism = Seeing the world in a new light
Opportunism = taking opportunities
Adventurism = doing adventures
@matthiasellis@QuinnLester This is basically every coastal city in California. Everyone could afford a Ferrari if they want, but they drive tacomas and wear flannels and will even go work in the trades because it fits their aesthetic but you find out their family owns half the city.
