messaging my wife a link containing proof of her husband cheating on her from an anonymous instagram account and then when she clicks on it texting her to let her know she failed the family phishing test and she has to retake my cybersecurity course
you want to work in applied AI, but you keep telling yourself you’re not technical enough. you only “vibe code.” you need another few months.
says who? have you talked to a team doing the work you want to do?
i used to be that guy. thousands of github commits, nights up until 1am, another project to prove i was ready.
some of that skill development mattered. but i was also rejecting myself before finding out what the role actually required.
talk to someone doing it. ask what their day-to-day work involves, how much technical depth they need, and what their interviews test.
the bar might be higher than you think. it might be in a completely different place.
find out what you actually need to get better at before spending another month trying to become “technical enough.”
Michael Carrick will go back into Carrington, pouring all his energy and thoughts into working with his coaches to revive Manchester United. Such as: don’t waste Bruno Fernandes’ talents wide, improve the press, make midfield tougher for opponents to play through (Carlos Baleba offers hope) and organise a weak defence (a fit Matthijs de Ligt, who’s not played for 11 months, will help in time).
Of course, Carrick himself can improve. He has to act like a Manchester United manager with more authority and energy in the technical area and in press conferences. Carrick’s a modest character, a committed team man, but his role is all about strong, demonstrative leadership. There's a necessary performer element to modern management and that doesn't come naturally to Carrick.
He was rightly praised for getting United into the Champions League last season, and for restoring some pride and cohesion after Ruben Amorim. Having won five titles and a Champions League as a player at United, Carrick knows the standards the club should aspire to. United will not find someone who cares more about the club or who works harder to try to get things right than Carrick.
Anyway, if not Carrick, then who? Not many suitable A-listers, capable of working with this board and this imbalanced squad, present themselves atm. Carrick deserves some time and patience and a chance to reshape the squad. United need a couple of elite defenders, and a fit centre-forward, not a new head coach. #MUFC
Nearly every phone and computer on Earth relies on one plain-text file to know what time it is.
When a country changes its clocks with a few weeks’ notice, or Morocco pauses daylight saving for Ramadan, someone has to update that file. Since 02005, that someone has been Paul Eggert, a computer science professor at UCLA, who does it as a volunteer.

The annoying part about this Amorim guy and why it's more painful than every other previous managers is that every sensible Man Utd fan knows we lost a rare gem.
