The problem for men is they've lost what I call The Masculine Mystique.
Back when most women didn't work, you could act like having a job was this all-consuming thing. You work so hard 🥺 You should have a drink waiting when you get home & not have to lift a finger 🥺
But women work now. The jig is up 😂 We've worked full-time & still come home to cook & clean. So a guy acting like he's owed a personal servant on top of someone else raising his kids comes off like a lazy asshole, not a provider 🤷♀️ Many women did the Second Shift so a man insisting all he should do is work seems... weak.
Exceptions exist. Guys who work long hours or at exhausting physical jobs or run their own business get a pass. Not even mad at the idea the SAHP should do most housework, that's fair!
But if you put in 40 hours & come home to an overwhelmed wife whose toddler just made a giant mess again, 5yo is sick or melting down, & you think your God-given right is to sit on your ass while she wrangles the kids & makes dinner & cleans up, you're an outdated relic of the past.
And if you insist on just being a paycheck... don't be surprised when she treats you like one & initiates that divorce 🤷♀️
