After 6 months of living in SF, I understood why I hate it here.
In short, everything is optimized for ROI:
> bend your “values” for better “results”
> exaggerate results cuz everyone is doing it
> stay “friends” in case they become successful
> ghost people with low “return”
It’s all about optics and outcome. SF truly took “fake it till you make it” to another level.
But no matter how shiny the apple looks, the rot inside will show one day. If this is what is shaping the kids who dropped out to “build the future”, imagine the kind of future they’ll build.
it’s weird that the new iOS makes a point of universally locating the search bar at the bottom of the screen to make it easier to reach, but leaves the back button at the top. you had the insight, just…take…it…one step…further…
an AI-powered feature i would actually like: when i save or generate a digital flyer image, auto-suggest a reasonable name based on text in the image, instead of a random mess of numbers.
i get that sometimes malicious obfuscation is the goal, but talking about times that people are trying to communicate in good faith and getting in their own way.
i don't understand why people who can totally speak normally suddenly go into gibberish mode when tasked with writing a formal statement for an organization. decorum doesn't require lack of clarity.
one example. i understand the intent, but the kind of person who would ask this question in the first place is gonna be highly allergic to words like "mission" and "diversified, impactful programming."
