A really useful ward walkaround with the @SalfordCouncil Chief Exec @StephenYoung74, Neighbourhood Team, park rangers and officers, giving councillors the opportunity to show them first-hand some of the issues residents face day-to-day, including litter, potholes and problem parking.
It was also an opportunity to recognise and thank our teams for the excellent work they’re already doing across the ward. Residents’ concerns are being taken seriously, with an action plan now to follow. I’m very excited to see what we can achieve by working together!
Andrew and I very much appreciated the support from our councillors at our event on Sunday at the Civic Centre "Salford is not Manchester! - Owen Power in Conversation with Councillor Andrew Walters" as part of @jewishcultureuk . Our councillors are passionate about community cohesion and celebrating what we have in common and respecting our difference which we must ensure this continues. @CllrWalters@SalfordCouncil@SalfordNow@JewishChron@JewishTelegraph
When @BoardofDeputies President @PhilR_R announced his plan for @jewishcultureuk I knew exactly what I wanted to do in Salford! I was overjoyed when @CllrWalters agreed to take part. It was the nicest and most uncomplicated event I have organised so far, we knew what we wanted to do and just got on with it! We wanted our event to be accessible so we were delighted @AH_Mcr agreed to be our BSL interpreter. The icing on the cake was the support we received from @jessica_pathak , Paul Dyson the outside caterers & @SalfordCouncil who were determined to ensure everything was perfect, and perfect it was!
Thanks Owen! A thoroughly eclectic evening covering the nature of evil, drug policy reform, Jewish funeral rites, Enid Blyton, potatoes, mental health, linguistics, etymology, why we sway whilst praying, the difference between Chareidi and Chasidic, the pronunciation of the voiceless velar fricative (like the Scottish “loch”) and why “Ultra-Orthodox” is a linguistic nonsense; orthodoxy is non-gradable, so it can’t take a qualifier.
Did I mention potatoes?
Team Salford @jewishcultureuk making the event happen! Much thanks and love to @jessica_pathak Paul Dyson Andy Higgins (BSL Interpreter Supreme) and Tony Knox (photographer) who worked so hard to ensure everything was perfect, and it was! The best team ever! @CllrWalters@BoardofDeputies@SalfordCouncil
Delighted to have been appointed unopposed by Full Council as Chair of the Planning Panel at @SalfordCouncil.
I look forward to working constructively with members, officers, applicants and residents to ensure a fair, transparent and robust planning process for our city.
Great to see @salford_mayor highlighting the outstanding work of the Hershel Weiss Centre and the wider voluntary sector in Salford.
Michelle Ciffer and her team provide invaluable support to so many local families, and it is wonderful to see their work recognised ahead of Shavuos.
I was sorry to miss the visit due to my constituency surgery, but I look forward to visiting again soon.
It was lovely to pop along to Hershel Weiss Centre this morning to meet with Michelle Ciffer in connection with work she’s doing to communicate the Centre’s important work, their relationships with other VCFSE organisations, such as @SalfordCAB@SalfordCVS & the @SalfordCouncil💖
Shomrim was honoured to meet with His Majesty The King today.
The King acknowledged the vital work carried out by Shomrim in protecting and supporting the community, and expressed concern over the recent rise in antisemitism.
For some reason the @SalfordCouncil website lists @SalfordLabour as coming third with 454. In fact they came second with 754, beating Reform into third place.
