This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting Community Law & Mediation (CLM) to deliver on its strategic plan.
The latest EPA forecast warns that Ireland remains significantly off track to meet its climate targets. Ireland will achieve at best just half of the cuts in greenhouse gas emissions it is committed by law to make by 2030, the latest forecast shows.

As the impacts of climate change worsen, it is vital that Climate Action Plans set out a clear roadmap for effective climate action. Climate Plans should serve as a meaningful mechanism for monitoring..

This National Volunteering Week, we want to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who make Community Law & Mediation’s work possible.
The services that we provide would simply not be possible without the many volunteers who give so generously of their time. This includes our volunteer mediators, the lawyers who staff our clinics and, the many barristers who represent our clients on a pro bono basis and the academic experts who share their knowledge. They are the very backbone of CLM.
In 2025, 99 legal professionals volunteered their time to support our free legal advice clinics, alongside 34 MII accredited volunteer mediators and conflict coaches. We are also deeply grateful to our committed board of trustees and the members of our youth advisory committee and Limerick advisory committee who provide invaluable insights to guide our work.
Thank you for the vital role that you all play in supporting greater access to justice, mediation, and conflict resolution across the communities that we work with.

These calls echo what we are asking the Irish Government to do in our legal challenge to the Climate Action Plan 2024. Alongside a child, a youth climate activist and a grandfather, we are challenging the plan on the basis it lacks a clear roadmap for achieving targets and this constitutes a breach of human rights.
Ireland voted in favour of the resolution. It is now time for the Government to operationalise what it voted for by implementing measures to protect communities from climate harm. Read more about our CAP24 challenge on our website: https://t.co/1s77C7TvNL
Yesterday marked a defining moment for collective action on climate change.
The UN General Assembly voted in favour of a resolution welcoming the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the obligations of States in respect of climate change.
🧵
The UN has welcomed the Court’s rulings, marking a major turning point for climate accountability and reinforcing States’ legal obligations to prevent further climate harm!
Today, we reaffirm not only the ICJ ruling, but also the power of multilateralism and global unity. 🇺🇳✊
Yesterday's resolution endorses the opinion by calling on States to comply with these legal obligations. It urges States to implement measures to achieve the Paris Agreement’s temperature goal and underscores the importance of a just transition away from fossil fuels.

Protect the ECHR. Protect peace. We’ve added our name to a joint letter calling on the UK & Irish Governments to publicly reaffirm their commitment to the ECHR at the next Council of Europe meeting & to resist any moves that would weaken its protections.

These Heads are fundamentally flawed and should not be included in the proposed legislation. Climate considerations and public scrutiny must inform Government decisions that will impact current and future generations.
Last Friday, the Oireachtas Committee on Transport published its report on the pre-legislative scrutiny of the General Scheme of the Dublin Airport (Passenger Capacity) Bill 2026.

While we welcome these recommendations, we remain concerned about the restrictions on access to justice and side-lining of climate law in Heads 11 and 12...
