Albacete Balompié would start their life in the fourth tier of Spanish football back in 1940. However until the nineties they had only played in Segunda for four seasons in total.
Then, out of nowhere, they achieved back to back promotions to LaLiga, and stay there for a historic five seasons, one of only two spells in the top flight (91-96 and 03-05).
They even made a Copa del Rey semi final in the nineties, a feat they nearly matched this season when they made the quarters after knocking out a certain Real Madrid!
Since that back to back promotion, they’ve only spent five campaigns outside the professional level of the pyramid.
They play at Estadio Carlos Belmonte (17,524).
