Yesterday, in the latest issue of Air and Space Operations Review, my article analyzing the US Air Force Academy’s academic core curriculum appeared. My bottom line: USAFA fails in its mission to produce adequately prepared officers unless its academic core includes additional humanities courses. Specifically, the core should contain three history courses: military, world, and American; as of now it only has two. Those courses would ensure that officers, regardless of their academic major, have a sound background in evolution of their profession; a basic understanding of the worldwide environment in which they will serve, to include the basic beliefs and heritage of potential allies and enemies alike; and a solid appreciation for the values and principles that underpin our nation today because of its past. In addition, the core should restore a literature course examining the inherent nature and character of war—an awareness that is fundamental to the “warrior ethos.” Here's the link: Critiquing the US Air Force Academy’s Core: Does It Satisfy the Need?

So after yesterday’s inane joyride , Trump will leave Walter Reed and head to the White House after tweeting, "Don't be afraid of Covid." Somehow, I don't think that provides much assurance to the public, especially the families of 210,000 Americans who have died from the virus.

Whoa—absolutely astounding to see Trump’s debate display. What was most appalling—in a thoroughly appalling display of zero decorum and zero morality—was Trump’s refusal to condemn white supremacists and racists. Am I surprised? No. But I am terribly saddened for our nation.
