@bhavaytyagi I am much less informed about 1, could you point me in ways do strings inform foundations of statistical mechanics (I know high energy theorists contributed a lot, but I don't know how the theory itself directly informs us)?
@bhavaytyagi Maybe this is not what you mean, but there are many studies of extended objects in stat mech such as directed polymers or more recently higher-form objects. They can interact nontrivially with topology, leading to nonthermal behaviour (e.g. one recent example arXiv:2304.04792).
@fynmaaandu what i’m saying is textbook, it does explain many things? not sure what your standard is but the quote is just some pop sci blurb, we can’t expect it to be a full lecture?

@nolightupstairs I guess the problem is that PRLs are full papers these days. I find the original premise with a PRL as advertisement/appetizer accompanied with a PR(A,B, E…) that includes details quite pleasing.
