🚨 Momentum is building in Indiana 🚨
In less than TWO WEEKS since launch, the Closed Primary movement has already surpassed 1,000+ signatures.
Hoosiers are sending a message loud and clear:
Your party should charter its course.
Closed primaries protect voter intent, strengthen party integrity, and ensure nominees actually represent the voters.
This movement is just getting started.

🚨 Huge. Max Engling says closing Indiana’s primaries is one of his top priorities as Secretary of State.
One of many reasons I’m supporting him. We need a LEADER in that office who can work with our state lawmakers to get this done.
Republican primaries are for Republicans
@JWReamer You being embarrassed by your vote / party alignment =/= restricting your rights.
Closing the primaries is necessary.
You may feel too embarrassed or perhaps like the fence-sitter LARP, but that’s no reason to promote + enable crossover voting.
@JWReamer It’s entirely accurate. If your party doesn’t run worthy candidates, get involved and let them know (or be that worthy candidate).
Crossover voting stifles the voice of the party it nominates.
Close the primaries.
@PeonyPrincess27 I think we’re at the 11th or 12th time you’ve tried to do mental gymnastics and correlate closing the primaries with something else.
You’re better than this..
@wolfofwarsh@stopher9779 Remember to vote for your party’s candidate that aligns with your stance on the size of government.
Not sure which Democrat(s) that’d be.
But do so with unabashed enthusiasm, don’t play fence sitter.
@HonestColtsFan@stopher9779 It’s okay to be too embarrassed to identify with the party you vote for.
It’s not okay to argue against something when the facts are contrary to your bias. It just further highlights the need for said thing.
Do better, be better.
@PeonyPrincess27 Did you not see the literal screenshot of your reply saying (and I quote) “Why ban something but didn’t even exist here?”
Assuming you meant that* rather than but* — however it’s hard to tell.
@PeonyPrincess27 We need to close the primaries.
Voter suppression is a strawman argument in regards to closed primaries.
Closed Primary =/= Closed Primary (… and also redistricting or any other number of other issues)
@HonestColtsFan@stopher9779 Ultimately, legislature will be responsible for those aspects.
As mentioned previously, ‘Independents’ vote with the same party consistently. This would change nothing.
Closed or open primaries have negligible impact on turnout. Per Yale, Clark University and others.
@wolfofwarsh@stopher9779 It simply makes you someone who shouldn’t be voting in a Republican primary 🤝
You’re making a very strong case for closing the primaries.
@wolfofwarsh@stopher9779 One does not need to know your voting record to know you’re one of the following:
- A Republican
- A Democrat
- An ‘Independent’ (that’s votes consistently with the same party)
You’re negating the need to even look 👎
@PeonyPrincess27 You just said crossover wasn’t happening. But your reasoning for not closing the primaries is because Democrats don’t run candidates in some areas?
… which would mean the democrats in said areas are voting for…. Republicans?
