What Jillian Michaels completely missed is that the white folks who did not personally own slaves gleefully participated in the economy and white supremacy created by slavery. Slavery turned America into an economic superpower. That is indisputable. And her “not all white people” argument makes her look foolish. Nobody would ever dare minimize the Holocaust that way (nor should they).

But the continual denial of the impact of slavery is widely accepted and it’s disgusting.
