I am a firm believer in that Mike realizing he’s in love with Will sometimes isn’t this grand revelation but instead making Will laugh so hard soda shoots out of his nose during their weekly movie nights and Mike is staring at him bc “I could see this being the rest of my life.”
it’s the day of his wedding and Will is in his suite waiting for the final call before he walks down the aisle to his husband. the thought makes him giddy, something he never thought he could have, someone who loves him openly, irrevocably.
there’s a knock at his door and he +
not enough of Mike being forced to watch Will be happy with someone else. someone who takes his place as the best friend, who keeps Will safe when he’s tipsy after a night of drinking, who makes Will laugh so hard he gets that flush on his cheeks that Mike used to be the cause +
Mike being a witness and asked to sign Will’s wedding certificate and his hands are shaking so much he drops the pen, vision blurring where he looks at the empty spot next to Will’s name where his should be and not Will’s future husband. that should be him that should be him.
