@aleams Me too. But we aren’t the entire marketplace, sadly.
Which begs a chicken/egg question, then. Does behavior of the market dictate what creators/companies make? Or can we as creators STEER the market how we want it? And if so, how?
How do we make THEM care about story first?
@aleams We just keep agreeing with each other in different words.
@aleams And now they just sit in my house someplace. I don’t even know where.
@aleams Wuite literally a “2 things can be true at the same time” convo on the surface (pun intended.) It CAN be a great story AND collectible.
But FOR ME, it would have to be BOTH: a story I FEEL and a cover that feels unmissable.
That’s BRUTALLY hard, and so obvious when it misses.
@aleams I remember the Marvel Hip-Hop album cover variants. I bought a decent number because they were the right combo of a book or character I loved AND an album I loved or respected. That was a small fraction of the total output.
And some of them I read and THAT ISSUE was just.. meh.
