@Mindgamesnl Sick, curious if you're able to make a distinction between the duplicate servers (e.g. https://t.co/W5kira5t6I pointing to the same server as https://t.co/NGzy52bLj2) & offline mode servers aswell

Late Twitchcon tweet but it was a blast seeing the @MCChampionship_ event in person and meeting some people from the community. Would love to go again at some point!
1 month later, Badlion has made some improvements after working together with @ScrubBadlion. The client brand is now set to badlion, the resource pack prompt is being sent and there's various rendering issues getting fixed.
It's 2024 and unlike every other major client (Lunar, Feather, even Optifine nowadays), @BadlionClient still does not set the client brand to something identifiable, or provide any other way to identify Badlion users to servers. (1/2)
And from a server owner perspective, it makes it impossible to track client usage for analytics purposes. It also prevents you from improving the player experience as you cannot send messages or alternative resource packs to Badlion users.

This is noticably problematic, as Badlion doesn't tend to play nicely with resource pack servers, where either things don't render properly or in this case the resource pack doesn't even ever get sent to the client (reproducable on both MCCI & Origin Realms). (2/2)
@hi3_nl@falcomer That's another good point, systems administration is a lot of work that people don't always take for granted until it's broken / not there. It's not usually work that is noticed by people unlike e.g. plugin developers working on something everyone sees and interacts with.
@cafestifflered@falcomer Yeah I wasn't joking, just going through the first page of the sysadmin section on BBB, at least two threads out of a handful I've gone through where people are offering monthly services at $25 or $45/mo. Sure, it's passive income to some degree in those cases, but still.
@falcomer But I don't see how anyone would find it attractive to start doing systems administration within the Minecraft space for how little people pay (BBB shows people offering freelance services at $10/hr or $25/mo), especially if you're trying to make a living off of it.
@falcomer I will say that I'm grateful enough to be in a fortunate position where I've managed to go from doing this as a side-gig during high school to doing it as a full-time job, working on some of the coolest projects and having interacted with tons of awesome people over the years.
