[Thread] I have been using GitHub for 9 months now, but simply by following the steps I was taught without properly taking the time to learn what each step meant and why it is modeled the way it is modeled. So I decided to make a small summary for myself (feel free to use it too)
The rest of the world: burning, war zones, unaffordable healthcare, rising autocracy, consistent increases in governmental debt
Switzerland: soo we were expecting a 700 million deficit, but kind of made a 1 billion surplus. Sorry for doing it… again
A role model is basically a person who's trajectory (and I imagine success) reduces the uncertainty about committing to a given life-style. And a booster to your level of motivation (input 3). And a trigger of mimetic & belonging desire.
One final thought on this process is that in order to use some existing approaches, it is usually enough to get some big picture on it and implement it. But if you want to actually innovate/invent, you need to understand the raw inputs to the core. And that’s the hard part
A reminder to my older self: (1) it’s important to be where things are happening because this will force you to ask yourself the right questions. (2) If you can’t be where the frontier is, at least get somewhere where things are moving. Questions will also arise there.
(3) these two together kind of reminded me that I’ve faced similar issues in the past, and when you start digging into a major research question, you realize that current answers have their limitations, and that you can always do better than what exists
