A man in China commissioned triplets through surrogacy in Florida. When they were born, he didn’t even come to get them.

He sent “baby handlers" YEARS LATER.

BABY HANDLERS.

People literally paid to collect newborn babies, sort out their documents and move them across borders.

One of those three babies later died. The other two ended up in an international custody battle.

DO NOT start calling this “surrogacy gone wrong.” This IS surrogacy. Once pregnancy and children become contractual services, an entire industry inevitably appears around the buying, transferring and delivering of babies 🤮

The same investigation describes men commissioning children on an industrial scale : 21 children in one case, more than 100 in another.

When they say: Please, for the love of God, regulate us. Give us licences, audits, and bans before our digital God destroys us all.

Here is what is actually being requested. Three things, in order.

A regulatory body that they control, to prevent competition from catching up. Written with their people, staffed by their alumni, and calibrated to what they can already afford. Compliance is a fixed cost, which means it is trivial for the incumbent and fatal for the challenger. Not technology, but paperwork becomes their moat.

Immunity from liability. This is the one nobody talks about and it is the most valuable of the three. Today, if your model causes harm, it is your fault. Once licensed, audited, and approved, it is the regulator’s fault – you followed the rules. The licence converts responsibility into a receipt.

Too big to fail status, which means taxpayer funded bailouts in case of problems. Declare it critical infrastructure and the state now has an interest in your survival. Which means, when something goes wrong, the losses are public and the gains stay private. We have watched this film. Banking, 2008, same argument, same vocabulary.

Note the pattern: every one of the three transfers something from them to the public – risk, competition, cost – while the language is entirely about protecting the public from them.

The sincerity of the fear is beside the point. Sincere people can still ask for exactly what an insincere person would ask for, and the request should be judged by what it does rather than by what motivates it.

The alternative is unglamorous and works: competition, adversarial testing between rivals who want to find each other’s flaws, and full liability after real harm. Nobody gets a licence. Nobody gets immunity. Nobody gets a bailout. You build, and you answer for what you built.

That is the arrangement that made the West rich. It has never needed anyone’s permission to work.

Whenever I write that the point of the path isn’t to spend your life chasing altered states or strange experiences, someone inevitably shows up to explain those things to me, as if I’ve never experienced any of it. What they don’t know is that I went through all of it. The visions. The altered states. The sense of ascending beyond ordinary consciousness. At one point I fully believed I was having conversations with God. I’m not dismissing these experiences because I’ve never had them….but I am saying they aren’t the end of the path.

Eventually you have to come back down. Back into the body, into ordinary life, into relationships, work, aging, disappointment, washing dishes, and whatever else is directly in front of you. The question eventually is no longer “How high can I go?” , but “Can I bring what I learned all the way back down here?” Ascension can be part of the path, but it isn’t the completion of it. Ascension may show you something, but descent is where you learn how to live it.

The West is in the process of destroying itself from within - and Oswald Spengler saw it coming a century ago.

In The Decline of the West (1918), Spengler argued that civilisations rarely perish from external conquest alone. They collapse when they lose faith in their own identity and begin to take pleasure in their own disintegration. Instead of confidently transmitting their traditions, values and achievements, they turn against themselves. They treat their history as a catalogue of crimes, their institutions as systems of oppression, and their core principles as sources of guilt. At that point, they become culturally defenceless.

The modern West displays these symptoms with disturbing clarity. Large parts of its elite actively participate in the vilification of Western civilisation. Western achievements in science, law and liberty are reframed as sources of shame. Mass immigration from incompatible cultures is often presented not as a policy to be managed, but as a form of historical atonement. Criticism of this process is frequently treated as morally illegitimate.

Spengler observed how late-stage democracies tend to become weak and sentimental. They struggle to defend their borders or uphold their own values because doing so conflicts with their self-image as open and non-judgemental. This creates a dangerous asymmetry: while the West engages in relentless self-criticism, other cultures remain far more assertive about preserving their own identity.

Spengler did not believe this process was easily reversed. Once a civilisation loses the will to defend itself, it has already entered its final stage. We are running out of time to prove him wrong.
