Probably one of the reasons why I don’t enjoy the drag scene here in the US is because of performances like this. Filipino drag queens are just exceptionally entertaining. ✨
Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Janice Degamo spoke as a widow, not just a lawmaker.
Recalling the murder of her husband, former Governor Roel Degamo, she warned that political threats are never just words. Her husband received threats before he was killed in March 2023.
In the House justice committee deliberations, Rep. Degamo argued that Vice President Sara Duterte’s threats against President Bongbong Marcos are an impeachable offense sufficient in substance.
In clear, layman’s terms, she made one thing painfully clear: when threats are normalized, lives are put at risk.
Thank you Ma'am @iamkarendavila for calling this out on national TV. We need moral reckoning on mysoginy for our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunty, and to all women. https://t.co/fWhr7ouQXp
Puro panukala, puro imbestigasyon, puro palabas, puro satsat. Pero ang mga big-time kurakot? Napaparusahan ba? Hindi. Mas nananalo pa sa eleksyon.
Manila & Naga: A Tale of Two Cities
Today we witnessed the first day of Isko Moreno & Leni Robredo as mayors of Manila and Naga respectively, after their unsuccessful 2022 Presidential bid.
It's interesting to see the difference between the two: one a returning mayor...

The sun creates
a shadow show
on an indoor wall
that I've never noticed before
tree limbs the stars
I wonder
what else I haven't seen
that hides in plain view
waiting for me
to turn my neck
at the precise right angle
to let my mind open
to the glory
of morning

In most countries, Big Brother stayed true to its Orwellian roots: cold, omnipresent, slightly terrifying—a symbol of control and surveillance.
Except in one place. The Philippines.
On the horizon
there's always a bird
I can't identify
but it looks like you
when it beckons
At times the horizon
seems a fingertip
away, your smile
wavering
in summer heat
I am determined
to walk
to the horizon
but I never get closer
than your memory
