@camiloos12@pvicvg It's not the norm, yes. None of this is the norm. Undertale/Deltarune are fairly unique in regards to... pretty much any game out there.
Again, Toby has expressed he might try another method of translation, so maybe while he isnt extremely busy he could start to fit the "norm"
@camiloos12@pvicvg Again, this comes down entirely to the fact that he doesn't speak the language, therefore he can't personally review it. It is not a one-man job, yes, but that doesn't mean toby doesn't need to be personally involved for a large part of the actual work.
@camiloos12@pvicvg I know how people feel. But, what they might feel is different from what is happening. It is not "favoritism", it is him only translating into languages he is currently fluent in.
@camiloos12@pvicvg Well. Yes, but in that 11 years he has also been working on Deltarune essentially continuously.
I do think a spanish translation for either games is a worthwhile thing to do, and I hope he looks into it more either when the game is done or nearing completion.
@pvicvg I feel like he does take this social responsibility into consideration. That does not automatically mean he HAS to translate it into spanish. He might one day, he seems open to it, but it is not a necessity, especially for a game in active development.
@RenatoMadguy@DestaiceWoW Objectively, Deltarune being available in spanish would be a Good Thing. But, nothing is free. Translation is, in fact, a very intensive process which would be adding lots of work to an already busy dev team.
@RenatoMadguy@DestaiceWoW While I do hate how many people have taken this as an excuse to be racist to latin american fans, the core of this issue (Toby not translating his game into spanish) is something that is not on the same level as other historical injustices.
@Metal940486@Calight@RinTezuka9@TextopOnDaTwitr Deltarune's dialogue is very specific, with layered meaning. Even just japanese takes, like, multiple months to translate, and that is
1) a language he speaks
2) working directly with a professional team
Even if he got the best of the best, it would be adding months to dev time
