And that’s the 1968 Sanitation Strike that brought the whole Civil Rights Movement together. It was during those protests in that hostile climate when MLK Jr. was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel. It was a *frequent* grade school field trip location for me.

As a Memphian born and raised, this is incredibly disheartening. The National Guard has been deployed in Memphis a few times in the past, recently related to 2020 George Floyd protests that actually brought the city together. One time in the past is at the forefront of my mind.
