As South Texas continues to grow, our infrastructure planning must evolve with it. The challenges facing our communities do not stop at city or county lines. Water, drainage, power, transportation, and economic development are regional issues that require regional solutions. Public Utility Agencies provide a framework for communities to work together, maximize resources, and better prepare for future growth.
Today, Representative @JanieLopezForTX and I hosted a Public Utility Agency and Regional Infrastructure Summit in Harlingen, bringing together leaders from across South Texas to discuss how regional collaboration can help address future infrastructure needs.
The discussion focused on how Public Utility Agencies can help communities work together on water, wastewater, stormwater, drainage, transportation, and economic development projects while improving competitiveness for state and federal funding.
South Texas is growing, and the challenges ahead require regional solutions. By working together, we can build the infrastructure needed to support our communities for generations to come.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this important conversation. We look forward to continuing these discussions across South Texas.
I’m proud to endorse my friend @mayes_middleton for Texas Attorney General. Mayes has been a consistent conservative fighter for the values Texans care about most, defending our Constitution, protecting our communities, securing the border, and standing up for faith, family, and freedom. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside him and I know firsthand his commitment to serving the people of Texas with integrity and conviction. I look forward to continuing to work with him as we fight for the future of our state.
I authored this op ed alongside Florida State Representative Jason Shoaf calling for an end to taxpayer funded lobbying.
Taxpayers should never be forced to fund lobbyists who turn around and advocate for more spending and bigger government. It is government lobbying government with your money.

It is time for transparency, accountability, and putting taxpayers first.
Yesterday marked my first hearing as a member of the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce, and I am grateful for the opportunity to get to work on issues that directly impact Texas families and our state’s economic future.
We heard expert testimony on critical grid security and the steps we must take to ensure our constituents, our electric grid, and our state remain safe from foreign threats. We also received updates from agency leadership on where things stand today and what lies ahead in the fight to keep Texas strong. As we continue the Texas miracle, it is essential that we maintain a reliable and resilient grid while ensuring costs are not unfairly placed on everyday Texans and hardworking homeowners.
The inclusion of the Chase Field Industrial Airport Complex in the Texas Airport System Plan marks a significant step forward for aviation and economic development in South Texas.
I am proud to have supported this effort and appreciate the strong partnership between local leaders, the Bee Development Authority, and TxDOT in making it possible. This designation positions Chase Field for future investment, job creation, and continued growth for Beeville and the surrounding region.
I am grateful to Lieutenant Governor @DanPatrick for his trust and faith in my ability to serve in this role. This responsibility is critical to the success of the State of Texas, and I am committed to conducting a fair and thorough review process to ensure that every appointment reflects the values and expectations of the people of Texas. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to uphold the integrity of this process and to ensure that the people of Texas can have confidence in those appointed to serve.
Too often disagreements turn into battles where the only real outcome is that attorneys get paid and everyone else loses. The people we represent expect us to, at the very least, sit at the table to try and solve problems together.
Today Corpus Christi welcomed President @realDonaldTrump to the Port of Corpus Christi, where he laid out a bold vision for American energy dominance and highlighted the critical role our port plays in fueling the future of Texas and the United States. The Port of Corpus Christi stands as a gateway to global markets, supporting jobs, strengthening our economy, and reinforcing our nation’s energy security.
Texas leads, and the Coastal Bend is at the center of that leadership. When we invest in our ports, our producers, and our energy workforce, we invest in American strength and prosperity. The future of energy runs through South Texas, and we are just getting started!
Yesterday was a great evening at the Flour Bluff ISD Board Meeting celebrating excellence in our schools. My office presented certificates of appreciation to the Teachers of the Year in recognition of their outstanding achievement.
It was also a pleasure to visit with FBISD Chief Lance Howard and to witness the swearing in of two new FBISD police officers, Kevin Harris and Timothy Mitchell. Congratulations to both of these officers and thank you for your commitment to keeping our students and staff safe.
Texas just secured a major win for our elections as the Supreme Court has allowed our map to stand! This keeps our process clear for voters and candidates and ensures Texas can have representation that reflects our values!
ICYMI: Here is my speech from the senate floor in favor of the new maps!
I commend the City of Beeville for its proactive leadership in responding to this serious water shortage. Taking swift, decisive action to protect residents and plan ahead is exactly the kind of local initiative that keeps South Texas strong. As drought conditions continue to impact our region, it is essential that local, regional, and state partners stay coordinated to identify the most effective solutions. My office will remain in close communication with Beeville officials and relevant state agencies to support their efforts and ensure the community has access to the guidance, resources, and assistance needed to navigate this challenge.
This morning I attended and spoke at the Rio Grande Valley Seawater Desal Project Briefing in Harlingen! We had great conversations about securing a reliable water supply for our communities and how desalination can help shape the future of South Texas! #txlege#sd27
I had a great time speaking at the SREC meeting of the @TexasGOP! It was an honor to share legislative updates, celebrate the victories we achieved, and talk about the important work that still lies ahead for our state!
