@vanliongiraffe @Boenau Multiple things can be true at once. Conservatives do use this as a bad faith bogeyman. But parents who want options aren't stooges who lack agency, and the teachers and admins in those schools generally aren't conservatives. "Choice" looks different in FL than MA accordingly
@LudovicSpeaks @DebLimaBean @angryasianman I knocked on close to 200 doors over the summer and fall in North OC. Not a single person I spoke to every made a comment on those lines; they either hadn't heard of him, or had heard he was a left-wing extremist running against a "moderate." We were left out to dry.
@notsolittleold1@BlackKnight10k Live in that district and volunteered on the campaign. Bluntly, felt like the DCCC abandoned us (in a district Biden won!) until late in the summer. Rs outspent us 5:1 and 10:1 in the final weeks.
The DCCC prioritized protecting incumbents and it's worth shining a light on that
@wiscottcurtis Must be crushing it in LA then which could surely mislead. I'm just going off the NYT site which shows only 48% in and the gap having narrowed by .6% in the last 2% drop.
We'll know either way soon enough. Soon being a relative term...
@ShannonBrooke01 @VanceUlrich @kathnyhus @jfchen I live in district and volunteered. The lack of national investment until very late in the game was frankly a VERY bad reflection of the DCCC
@VanceUlrich @kathnyhus @jfchen And just like that, the next 2% of vote to drop narrowed the gap by .6%. 52% remains outstanding and a 10% gap remains.
@VanceUlrich @kathnyhus Using county-wide gov. counts, OC is "missing" ~546K votes off 2021 recall baseline, of which 57% are Democratic. At 46% reporting, @jfchen needs 53% of the outstanding vote to close the gap. It's still very doable especially with even more outstanding from the small LA portion.
@spencerheckwolf @JalbyMD I wouldn't bet on it, but using the 2021 recall as a baseline would seem to give us some reason for optimism

@markwarschauer I live in 45 and volunteered for Chen. My wife and her entire family submitted D ballots today. Canvassing on Sunday, D voters largely had only just dropped ballots in the mail and were fired up. I'm optimistic about the coming days but no chance we know tonight.
@opinonhaver People keep being shocked that a thirty-year senator and two term Vice President who came from nothing and beat an untouchable incumbent in his thirties is actually pretty good at politics.
@GarysheffieldJr Good faith answer from a half Jewish Nets fan: even putting aside the moral ledger or that 500k is nothing to him, the earned media he generated for that film, from the tweet alone and then especially the refusal to apologize, is literally worth millions more than 500k.
@freetaiwan@Momatwork3@JocelynSChung Hey, if this is the issue that decides your vote - a school board vote over a decade ago vs. what Steel supports today - I don't have much for you. I think the record is clear and the choice is clear, but it's your choice. God bless
@Momatwork3@JocelynSChung I've met Jay personally several times during canvassing. Calling him a communist sympathizer is at best a bad joke. Steel doesn't have a record to run on - actually has one to run away from - so this is what they want to talk about instead.
@Momatwork3@JocelynSChung Many, many districts around the country accepted these funds at the time (during budget crises for those who forget). Very similar on the surface to programs that were funded by Japan and other countries in the past. The program was proven a bad actor later on.
@Momatwork3@JocelynSChung If by make it right you mean "serve on the Korean peninsula" and "agree with the State Dept. assessment," yes.

@Momatwork3@JocelynSChung The best Steel can stick on Jay is that he voted to accept funding for students in his district over a decade ago, for a program he no longer supports. She voted against sensible gun control, anti price gouging, etc. THIS YEAR. The choice is clear
