#WorldHumanitarianDay brought together many voices, experiences and perspectives in Addis Ababa.
Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation, shared their reflections and helped make the day meaningful.
The message continues beyond 19 August. #NotATarget
On #WorldHumanitarianDay, the Government of Ethiopia, humanitarian partners, the diplomatic community and the UN gathered in Addis Ababa to honour those who serve - and those we have lost.
A shared message: those who provide and receive humanitarian assistance are #NotATarget.
Humanitarians are mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters, brothers and friends.
#WorldHumanitarianDay may be over, but the call to protect them is not.
🎥 A look back at #WHD2026 in Ethiopia.
On #WorldHumanitarianDay, representatives of the 🇪🇹Government, the United Nations, and humanitarian partners joined together to honor the courage, dedication, and selfless service of aid workers and volunteers who stand with communities in times of crisis.

This was a hospital.
This was a bank.
This was a car.
Civilians are #NotATarget. Neither are the civilian spaces we all depend on.
#WorldHumanitarianDay 🕊️
Today, across Ethiopia, we take the opportunity to honour humanitarian workers who have lost their lives and stand in solidarity with those serving communities affected by crises.

#Happeningnow Ethiopia is celebrating #WHD. “Today, we recognize and appreciate the courage, commitment and sacrifice of humanitarian workers and volunteers who stand with people affected by crisis” - Dires Desyibelew, @EthioRedCross
Stronger together: @WFP ED @CarlSkau met with @UNEthiopia agency representatives to discuss how the UN can further strengthen collaboration on response that leaves no one behind, align with government priorities, and support the national development efforts.
Ahead of #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate women like Mahlet. Working through a national NGO, she is part of the first response reaching communities across #Ethiopia, with support from the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund - EHF. @CBPFs@UN_Women@UNEthiopia
To live a fruitful life one ought to grow and produce plenty of fruits. Literally! Metaphorically! Not just for oneself but for everyone. And all that leads to #success#progress
Thanks to a very good rainy season I realize - strangely for the first time - that I have plenty of the fruit I don’t know in my own orchard.
I can’t eat what I have • I have to know what it is I have first 🤷🏽♂️ TELL ME QUICK!
