BREAKING MS NOW:
FBI agents on Thursday raided the Cleveland offices of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative — a pro-democracy organization that helps register voters in that state, according to three people briefed on the search.

DOJ cited the Callais decision (gutting the Voting Rights Act's protections against racial gerrymandering) 14(!) times in the opinion
The fallout from the SC's decision saying protections against racial discrimination is racial discrimination continues

Ohio lawmakers have unveiled a proposal to require voters to provide a photo ID in order to cast an absentee ballot.
Critics on both sides of the aisle warn the measure is being rushed and could make it harder for elderly Ohioans to vote.

@marcellstrbich Tell me how this doesn't end with thousands of people receiving letters demanding they send their ID to a random address every year between March-May and September-November. Absentee applications are public records so targets identify themselves. It's a scammer's dream come true
If I were a scammer who preyed on the elderly, or the CEO of a facial recognition company, I would be calling every member of the Ohio House begging them to pass a bill requiring people send unredacted copies of driver's licenses through the mail
What started as a straightforward, nonpartisan bill addressing fees for birth certificates and IDs for homeless individuals has been co-opted by election deniers.
We cannot stand by as lawmakers misuse the political process to make dangerous changes to election laws.

🚨Ohio Senators hijacked House Bill 472 (originally a bipartisan proposal to waive fees for birth certificates and ID for homeless individuals) to require photo IDs for all Ohioans voting by mail.
We oppose this sub-bill; committee hearing starts at 2pm.
🚨 Bad bill alert: We need you to call your Ohio Senator AND Ohio rep today to help stop HB 472, which could make voting impossible for thousands of eligible Ohio voters. Here's what's happening:
📃Until this week, HB 472 was a bipartisan bill focused on helping Ohioans experiencing homelessness obtain the documents they need to get an ID and participate in civic life. It was good!
😤 But now lawmakers are trying to replace it with a substitute bill that makes major changes to Ohio's vote-by-mail system.
🪢The new bill would require new photo ID for absentee voters, create a new online application system, and impose significant new responsibilities on county Boards of Elections.
Here's what's bad about the bill:
👵🏼 It will make voting by mail harder for a lot seniors, voters with disabilities, and other Ohioans who rely on absentee voting who can't easily get to the BMV
🗳️ It's an unfunded mandate for Boards of Elections, who are given huge new major new responsibilities to implement a brand new system with no clear funding plan
🧐 And this 121-page election bill was introduced with little time for the public—or even committee members—to review and understand it. It's being heard in House committee TODAY.
Election law is complicated. Changes this significant deserve careful review, public input, and thoughtful consideration before moving forward. Call your Ohio legislators—both your Ohio Senator AND your Ohio House member, to tell them to vote NO on HB 472 today. Find yours here: https://t.co/IWDyQVzExa
Hard to classify an inter-agency data verification procedure as a success when no one bothered to confirm the agencies enter their respective data in the same format. Last names with punctuation marks (like a hyphen or apostrophe) aren't coded the same leading to repeat flags. 🤷
Data checks on voter registration have been strengthened. If information doesn't match multiple sources like DMV or Social Security records, the voter record is flagged and the voter is notified. #ElectionIntegrity#VoterVerification
63 federal courts threw out all of Trump’s BS claims.
All of them. The Supreme Court rejected all of Trump’s BS claims. He now screams and cuts off interviews because he constantly lies about elections being rigged. He’s projecting again.
More than 1,500 late ballots from last month’s primary were tossed out across Ohio, according to recently certified election results. It was the first election under new rules that eliminated a four-day grace period for late, mail-in ballots.

Voter ID is already law in Ohio. Adding it to our constitution doesn't make anyone's life easier or cheaper.
This is the work of unserious people who are out of touch with what normal people need right now.
🚨The Ohio Senate just passed SJR 10 by a vote of 22-9.
The Ohio Constitution exists to protect people’s liberties and freedoms, not to enable political gamesmanship.

📣Our attorneys are in federal court this morning for a multi-day hearing in our class action lawsuit against ICE, Customs & Border Patrol, and DHS.
We sued these government organizations in March for their unlawful policy and practice of conducting warrantless arrests without probable cause.
Help me w/ the logic:
For voting, "protecting" our right to vote demands an ever expanding web of rules and regulations.
In the context of guns, "protecting" our right to bear arms demands as few rules and regulations as possible.
Do I have that right?
Fanning the flames of essentially non-existent voter fraud is always a convenient pivot for politicians who have no answers, no energy, no inclination to tackle the numerous and serious problems facing Ohioans.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Liberal and conservative Ohioans have come together to oppose an amendment to require voters to show photo ID at the polls.
