Great conference today at the Killashee Hotel. So much engagement and dialogue about pedagogy, recent and upcoming elections and useful resources.
Many thanks to all contributors (photos to follow!) @FinJusticeIre@Irish_Aid @ESchonQuinlivan @Bentonra
Hi @IrishRail - I prebooked 31 places on the 1500 Heuston to Cork today for a school group, only to find a ‘technical issue’ in coach E meant that no names were visible above the seats, so it was a free for all. Apparently nothing could be done.
My pleasure @laurelhillsec Always particularly good to welcome #Limerick( and Clare😀)students. Some fantastic contributors and a special word of thanks as always to their teacher @cmcging for her unstinting work with @POLSOCTeachers and in promoting @PDST_PolAndSoc 👏
Also there is no email address for me to direct my complaint, just a help form.
I am no longer looking for help, but I do wish to lodge a complaint. @IrishRail
While I received an apology from the host, it was incredibly stressful and unpleasant for the children who ended up sharing seats. I don’t believe any of this is acceptable, especially when the booking was clearly made in the school’s name so it was clear children were involved.

An exciting opportunity to explore important issues brought forward by Prof. Ben Tonra, Irish Aid, and Financial Justice Ireland. Best of luck to our friends @POLSOCTeachers.
Looking forward to our annual conference for @POLSOCTeachers - there is an excellent line up arranged and it will offer lots of practical help and ideas for your classroom!

How much longer do our students have to endure being shortchanged for their hard-work and effort. When will the powers that be listen to what teachers, students and their parents are saying about JC? @NormaFoleyTD1#edchatie
It was polsoc exam day! Lots of great questions but also question 5 - not sure what that was about.
Debrief this evening at 4.30 so check your mails for zoom link. If you haven’t received you can send me a DM and I’ll forward the link @POLSOCTeachers
📣Ask us anything.
We are kicking off with students in Laurel Hill Secondary School @laurelhillsec in #Limerick - talking to 5th and 6th years about voting and taking part in politics. 🗳️
Huge thanks to the teachers and students for having us along.
Congratulations to our colleague and teacher Ms. Mary Frawley @laurelhillsec who was the recipient of the 2024 Award for Irish Teachers of Mathematics at the 2024 IMT Awards Ceremony in UCC.
🗳️Should we have votes at 16?
Should posters be banned?
How can we make voting easier?
Some brilliant discussions with the girls at @laurelhillsec in #Limerick several of whom will be first time voters on 7 June.
