Addressed the National Summit on Safe Schools Leadership 2026 at @phdchamber House today, highlighting the need for a comprehensive, future-ready approach to school safety and resilience.
As Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji has rightly said, “Education is not merely a means of livelihood, but a powerful medium to make life better.” School safety today extends far beyond physical infrastructure. It encompasses cyber security, mental well-being, disaster preparedness, and the ability to respond effectively to unforeseen situations. As the National Capital, Delhi has a special responsibility to lead by example in creating safe, inclusive and resilient learning environments.
Also witnessed the launch of the National Model School Safety Toolkit, an important step towards institutionalising a culture of preparedness and prevention across our schools. Its launch is especially significant as Delhi observes Child Safety Month this July, with a range of initiatives dedicated to safeguarding our children.
My thoughts also turned to my grandfather, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri, who more than a century ago established schools in rural areas Sarhali and Lyallpur with the conviction that education is the foundation of a strong and enlightened society. His enduring belief that safe, empowering institutions shape the future continues to inspire us as we strive to build schools that are not only academically excellent, but also secure, resilient, and nurturing for every child.

A Vishesh Kirtan Darbar was organised at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Narang Colony, by 7 Gurdwaras of Janakpuri, Delhi, to commemorate the 100th martyrdom anniversary of Sardar Teja Singh Samundri Ji.
His contemporary and well known distinguished scholar Professor Ruchi Ram Sahni was aptly quoted as writing, "Samundri was truly an extraordinary man, so unshaken and calm. I do not have words to express my admiration for him, which arose in my heart seeing him work. He was a born organizer, a leader of men and a leader to run movements."
Joined Hon'ble Minister Shri @ashishsood_bjp and Sangat, to listen to the soulful Kirtan by Bhai Surjeet Singh Ji (Hazoori Raagi) and Bhai Jaskaran Singh Ji (Patiala Wale), followed by the Ardaas.

Chaired the meeting of the DDMA today to review the Capital’s preparedness for the monsoon season and measures for urban flood mitigation, alongside Hon’ble CM Smt. @gupta_rekha, Cabinet Ministers Shri @p_sahibsingh and Shri @ashishsood_bjp, the Chief Secretary, and senior officials from all concerned departments and agencies.
Directed the immediate augmentation of capacity at identified waterlogging hotspots and the strengthening of the SDRF in Delhi, emphasising that all departments must function in complete synergy, with no room for confusion over jurisdiction during any emergency.
Also underlined the need to keep mobile heavy-duty pumps operational at all times, ensure real-time monitoring of public feedback and on-ground conditions, and maintain close coordination with neighbouring states to further strengthen Delhi’s disaster preparedness ahead of the peak monsoon period.
It was encouraging to note that the number of identified waterlogging locations has declined consistently - from 194 in 2024, to 169 in 2025, and further down to 34 in 2026 so far. This reflects the impact of sustained planning, coordinated execution, and continuous monitoring by all stakeholder agencies.
We remain firmly committed to building a safer, more resilient, and world-class Delhi, in line with the vision of #ViksitBharat2047.

In respectful remembrance of my grandfather, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri Ji, a commemorative event was held at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, New Delhi, on the solemn occasion of his 100th martyrdom anniversary.
Our family is deeply honoured that several distinguished dignitaries and a large number of members of the Sangat joined in paying homage to his extraordinary life and enduring legacy.
A towering leader of the Akali movement (1914–1926) and a principal architect of the Gurdwara Reform Movement, Sardar Teja Singh Samundri Ji played a defining role in shaping one of the most remarkable chapters in Sikh history. His leadership during the Rakab Ganj, Chabian, Guru Ka Bagh, and Jaito–Nabha Morchas, among many others, helped forge a philosophy of steadfast, peaceful resistance, resilience and sacrifice that came to define the movement. His vision of reform extended far beyond the Panth - from championing social equality in Punjab’s villages to advancing education and strengthening social and religious harmony through the establishment of schools.
The programme featured soul-stirring Shabad Kirtan, including a special rendition dedicated to Samundri Sahib’s memory by Padma Shri Bhai Harjinder Singh (Srinagar Wale) Ji, followed by Guru Ka Langar.
A century after his supreme sacrifice on 17 July 1926, his life continues to inspire generations as a timeless example of selfless service, moral courage, and an unwavering commitment to justice, faith and principle.

Every edition of MASCRADE has strengthened the collective resolve to combat illicit trade.
Here's a throwback to #MASCRADE2022, where Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Former Vice President of India, shared his vision for a united fight against smuggling and counterfeiting.
As we prepare for the 12th edition of MASCRADE, that message remains more relevant than ever.
