@JoshSmith_82 If you're one of the few in the restaurant, then the restaurant is going to do something to bring other people in, as the few do not cover all the restaurant's food costs, payroll, advertising, etc. This is no different.
@jamienye Those old conference/league rings come from historical tradition, as the MLB (and the NFL) are in reality two major leagues merged into one. Winning your league meant "more" (tho not as much as the big trophy). NHL did not have the same historical evolution.
@JesseBeach92780@MiltStegallTSN For how long though? These changes continue as long as Johnson's commissioner, and the owners unanimously approved them. You're going to be avoiding the league for a very long time if these changes are successful in attracting new fans to the gate over the course of a few years.
@EdmOilerlytics Comparing running the Oilers to a team that is in the bottom rung of English football is a choice. Plus wasn't that the case in the Cal Nichols days, pre-Katz? They were just a bunch of fans with money.
@dashinthepark@yegsportstalk@HeavyHockeyNet Which oilers players? I'm guessing not the leadership core. This is gonna fracture that great team culture we've heard so much about.
@Kgill39 Yea but Katz heard the "we need to be tougher" lines from McDrai and is just responding to that. Had they said "Knob is too tough" then McDavid's dad would be head coach today.
@EdmOilerlytics Player's union will never go for it, or will want a soft cap/luxury tax as compensation. And most non-capped teams like'em because it reduces the price, as players trade money for security.
@EdmOilerlytics Older, 35+ guys looking for a 1-year, cup or bust contract will be on board. Young guys and guys looking for a long term contract will stay away.
@JonathanWillis Babcock made the Toronto players miserable at the end and it showed in the results. He may keep players "accountable" but the unhappy ones (even the ones who are already accountable) will make him "unemployed".
