​When a couple vacationing at the La Concha Hotel on Duval Street in Key West, Florida returned to their room on June 12, 2026, they discovered thousands of dollars in personal property had vanished—including designer clothes, electronics, and irreplaceable antique heirloom rings passed down from a retired Marine Colonel.

​Here is how police used digital breadcrumbs and hotel tech to solve the case in less than 24 hours:

​ 1. The Key Card Audit
​Hotel management ran an electronic lock diagnostic on Room 441. The log revealed that while the guests were out, someone accessed their room at 9:50 PM and 9:57 PM using a standard guest keycard.

​ 2. The "Find My" Ping
​The victim’s AirPods Pro case was among the missing loot. Using Apple’s Find My app, police and the victim tracked the live GPS signal as it moved through downtown Key West, pinpointing activity near Clinton Square Market.

​ 3. The Left-Behind Bag & ID
​Officers heading to Clinton Square Market spotted an abandoned bag at the local Cuban Coffee Queen. Inside, police recovered the victim's Bluetooth speaker, chargers, sunglasses, and AirPods. In a bizarre twist, a photo of the suspect's ID—identifying him as 51-year-old Vincen Vincent—was left right beside the stolen property.

​ 4. The Confrontation & Glove Trick
​On the afternoon of June 13, officers spotted Vincent riding his bicycle nearby. When confronted, Vincent admitted to finding a dropped hotel keycard inside a paper sleeve that had the room number written on it. He took advantage of the mistake, entered the room, and stole everything he could carry.

​When asked about the missing heirloom rings, Vincent pulled out both priceless rings, completely intact.

​5. The Recovery
​Officers brought the stolen property back to the couple’s rental cottage, reuniting them with their belongings and capturing a heart-warming recovery on camera.

Vincen Vincent was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Detention Center. He faces felony charges of Burglary of a Structure/Dwelling and Grand Theft (valued at ~$8,000). His case is currently pending.
