Look, I'm just a stupid podcaster -- but I think @MLS is dangerously unaware of (or ignoring) how frustrated and sick the rest of the fans in this league are of Leo Messi.

They force longterm fans to go watch games in cavernous, lifeless stadiums when he plays (sometimes making them drive hours for the privilege), they let his @InterMiamiCF team openly flaunt breaking salary and roster rules, and now we're still *debating* if he has to follow black-letter rules for skipping the ASG?

All for what? To chase a bunch of Leo Messi fans who will tune out from this league the second he leaves? To get video of him hoisting the MLS cup they can keep showing in highlight packages for decades?

It's "make a quick buck" nonsense that is ruining the brand and souring the consumer.

We -- the actual fans of teams in this goddamn league -- are going to be here long after King Leo leaves. We're the people you need buying tickets, subscribing to @AppleTV and wearing gear.

And you are pissing all of us off.

Relay that back to the Board of Governors at your next meeting @thesoccerdon. Maybe it'll be a more productive conversation than going around in circles about adding an extra DP.
