@king_reinhardt I'm not sure how to interpret all that together. How can it qualify as cozy alongside dark and high heat? I'm not sure I even want to know what "subverted master/slave" is supposed to mean. No clue what "Swordfighting two ways" might be in this context.

@king_reinhardt I'll caution you that some, though not all, of his novels were written with an affected-archaism that makes his books rather a slog. The short stories of his that I've read didn't suffer from that and were written in more of a contemporary early 20th century English.

@king_reinhardt Come to think of it, it might not be a bad idea to look at the nautical horror genre as a whole to find more comps.

@king_reinhardt Have you read any of William Hope Hodgson's work? Many of his horror short stories and some of his novels have a nautical setting.

@king_reinhardt To me, it doesn't even read as a pet name. It has a generic and impersonal feel about it. It seems more like a descriptive and maybe a promise, but as terms of endearment go, it's trite, overused, and weak. There's nothing soulful about it.

If you're struggling to pull some deep interpretive meaning from a book, it would be a good idea to remember that the text means what the text says is always a valid interpretation.

@king_reinhardt Old Soul Artisan has a candle called Mother of Dragons that is cinnamon and dragon's blood. I had a tea candle with that blend a few years ago and the cinnamon was dominant and very strong.

@WCRaustler If it's a book I've already read a couple times that might be a reason to buy that particular copy. It's interesting to see what someone else found significant or noteworthy. Coherent marginalia would be great, too.
