Mayor Mamdani is celebrating new “affordable” housing signs while many New Yorkers still struggle to find a place they can actually afford.

There would be far more homes available for working families if the city wasn’t spending billions sheltering large numbers of recent migrants under sanctuary policies.

The homelessness and tent encampments visible across the city are, in part, the result of the progressive policies he continues to advance. New York City cannot take care of everyone. Prioritizing legal residents and the taxpayers already here should come first.

Notice that when Mamdani talks about who this housing is for, he says “working people” — not “working Americans and legal immigrants.”

Building more units is a positive step. Real affordability will require enforcing immigration laws, lowering taxes, and reducing regulations.

Let’s at least agree on one point: stop calling her “progressive”, Michigan’s Omar represents radical views way beyond that benign term.
