🧵: A question I've been getting at the doors a lot: Why did I decide to get involved in politics?
My response: I didn't decide to go into politics. Rather, the world where I was raised is inherently political.
Every action we take in a capitalist society is political. 1/2
Shameful. My colleague and our Deputy Leader @solmamakwa was removed from the legislature for speaking out against Bill 5. Here's the moment it happened.
Make no mistake: Bill 5 must be scrapped.

Conservatives MPPs in Ontario are laughing as they vote against a motion requiring clear labelling on Ontario-made goods and grocery price hikes. So much for their promise to stand up for consumers. #onpoli
Residence Life workers at McMaster are among the lowest-compensated in the province.

*Notice the PC and Liberal candidates didn't respond despite a week-long response window. Huh.
Vote like a student in a school with broken windows and a leaking roof.
Vote like your human rights are at risk.
Vote like your life depends on it, because for some people in your community, it does

It’s election day in Ontario, and after seven years of PC neglect and corruption, it’s time for real progressive change. 🗳️
Here’s how to vote, a thread:
Vote like a trans person whose human rights are at risk.
Vote like your local greenspace is at risk of being bulldozed.
Vote like you don’t have somewhere warm to stay this winter.
Vote like local farmland is at risk of being paved over.
Vote like a single parent who has to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table.
Vote like a teacher facing violence at work.
After days of heavy snow, we got an aerial view of the roof of the Ontario Science Centre -- which was closed last year over concerns about the structural integrity of the roof.
The Progressive Conservatives said, last year, "the building, which is more than 50 years old, is at risk of potential roof panel failure due to snow load as early as this winter."

CUPE 3906 is proud to endorse @SarahJama_, @cmsmolenaars, @EasyThePianoMan, & @shaw_sandy in the provincial election, as voted by our members.
With their history fighting for organized labour, we believe that they are the best candidates for workers in their respective ridings.
Honoured to have the support of the Halton Elementary Occasional Teachers Local.
We’re going to fight for educators and students alike by investing in schools to clear the repair backlog and increase supports for all - much needed after years of Conservative and Liberal neglect.
Find a candidate who represents your values and get involved—volunteer, organize your union/organization, and push candidates to take a stance on real issues. There’s so much more we can do.
After all, we don’t even know who’s truly behind the “strategic voting” websites. 4/4
Hot take: progressives should know better than to trust a website like SmartVoting to make election decisions.
Local-level polling is notoriously inaccurate and doesn’t reflect the modern issues affecting individual communities. 1/4
Together we are building a real movement with young, progressive candidates, by workers and for workers.
We need to stop watching polls and instead, we need to get out on the ground. 3/4
Unless you're a member of the privileged ultra-rich, politics will always impact you.
I'm getting more involved because I want to reclaim a place in politics for the working class and shape how it impacts future generations for the better. 2/2
