At #WTMLondon2025, we had the privilege of engaging with leading international media networks, BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, and National Geographic to explore opportunities for collaboration and information sharing that will further elevate Destination Uganda on the global stage.
We look forward to building on these connections to enhance Uganda’s visibility and strengthen our positioning as a top global tourism and investment destination.
We, under the “@ExploreUganda : The Pearl of Africa” brand, executed a vibrant 3-day marketing campaign at the @WTM_London from November 4–6, 2025.
Led by the Hon. Minister of @MTWAUganda and our CEO @JulzKagwa, Team Uganda showcased the country’s rich tourism offerings, engaged global buyers and media, and strengthened partnerships to boost arrivals from the UK and Europe.
The Uganda stand was a major attraction alive with cultural performances, destination videos, and business meetings with tour operators, hotels, and international travel agents. These engagements opened doors for new collaborations and tailor-made itineraries promoting Uganda’s adventure, wildlife, and cultural experiences.
High-level media interactions with outlets such as @CNN, @BBCAfrica, Al Jazeera, and National Geographic amplified Uganda’s visibility, spotlighting attractions like gorilla trekking, the River Nile, and community tourism.
Our marketing and PR team also met with travel influencers, journalists, and buyers, distributing press materials and coordinating familiarization trips for 2026.

As part of our efforts to diversify Uganda’s tourism products and offerings, MTWA contributed UGX 200M towards organizing this year’s @KCCAUG Carnival, which took place yesterday at @KololoGrounds,Kampala. The Carnival which attracted thousands and run under the theme, "Celebrating Kampala: Culture, Innovation and Sustainability "was officiated by https://t.co/DE5yh3ptqu @RobinahNabbanja with our PS @KatusiimeDor and other dignitaries in attendance is a celebration of our culture, our music, fashion, food, religion, art and innovations. The contribution towards the Carnival which has evolved into a premier urban cultural event is a clear indication that MTWA recognizes the significant impact of such events to the tourism Sector especially in promoting MICE and getting our visitors to stay longer and spend more. @ExploreUganda@GovUganda @@PSF_UGANDA@mugarra@JulzKagwa@TourismBoardUg@ugwildlife@ugandamuseums@UgandaMediaCent

In his remarks during the #WTD2025 conference at Hotel La Confidentiale, Arua, State Min.@mugarra did commend the communities that preserve and promote the culture creating valuable experiences for visitors and the private sector that invest heavily as the main drivers of tourism growth. He called upon all players along the tourism value chain to always treat tourists and guests with value and offer best hospitality because the impressions they carry of a place/town/Country are what determines their return as well as a recommendation to others. Tourism is vital to generating revenue for the government and equally sustains the livelihoods of many communities. To this end, State Minister did assure residents of Arua and other participants that the government is fully committed to continue improving security, connectivity and infrastructure by working on key transport routes so that everyone in the sector can benefit highlighting cross-border trade with South Sudan alone that's worth around $50M. Tourism having been earmarked as one of the major 4ATMS to propell the 10-fold growth strategy from $50bn to $500bn by 2040,Min.called upon continued engagements and partnerships between Government, communities, private sector, plus development partners as the only way to amplify tourism sector growth and development. Currently, tourism is contributing about $1.6bn (5.7%) to the GDP, employees over 800600 people. @GovUganda@TourismBoardUg@UgandaMFA@MODVA_UPDF@UgandaPrisons@AruaCityUg
📌 Ahead of #WorldTourismDay 2025
While being hosted at @nextradio_ug today, I dived into my conservation and tourism journey - one that begins from a place so special to me, first because it is home and second, Ntoroko and its peripherals are part of conservation areas like the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve.
#Conservation is a sphere I have loved and experienced growing up. Western Uganda is a tourism hub so tourism isn’t a far off topic in my journey. Being part of the team at the frontline of Uganda’s tourism and conservation sector - years later- is a full circle moment for me.
As we gear up for this year’s World Tourism Day #WTD2025, I reiterated some key takeaways for all of us to consider as we strive for this industry’s & county’s sustainable transformation. Among others;
- I encouraged more Ugandans to travel & explore this beautiful country. This reduces dependence on inbound tourism but also sustains the tourism value chain from the grassroots.
- Explained that travel is not expensive as regards mode of transportation, accommodation, park fares & other activity fees.
- Called for more investment into accommodation within tourism destinations to cater for both high end & budget travelers.
- Commended the work of influencers and the media who take it upon themselves to market Uganda’s tourism offerings, a role we all ought to play.
- Called on Ugandans to join us in Arua for #WTD2025 celebrations on Saturday as we look at revitalizing the West Nile tourism cluster, contributing to the local economy over the week’s stay, celebrating cultures and showcasing Uganda as a rich destination both for leisure tourism and #MICE.
Thank you to @nextradio_ug for having me and giving #tourism airtime!
I believe that Uganda is already home to the critical mass needed to drive double-digit growth in our tourism sector. Given our population, we have the power to spark lasting change from within.
Through initiatives like Open Park Days, we are inviting every citizen to explore our national parks (free of entrance fees) so that you can experience firsthand the beauty, wonder, and cultural richness of our land. #ExploreUganda #UniquelyOurs
