Why should we care if some people choose not to be vaccinated?
Because for immunocompromised people among us
Their vaccines alone aren't enough
They rely on the rest of us
My getting vaccinated doesn't just protect me
It also protects the most vulnerable in my community
So here’s the kicker: “endemic” doesn’t mean “never think about covid again”. It’s exactly the opposite!
Endemic means someone is ALWAYS thinking about covid.
Endemic means public health is always monitoring disease & always intervening when cases cross the “acceptable” level.
This is so great! Thanks for noticing @dfirgs With (enthusiastic) permission from Prime, CRANE dev team @rho_dot_ai used CRANE as starting place to build the Catalyzed Reduction Framework. Lots of "can I use CRANE to build XYZ" requests since v1 launch April 2020, and we LOVE IT
@PauerAnissa@lapublichealth The 2 million vaccines are to go to those in the lowest quartile of the 'CA Healthy Places Index' (https://t.co/S1H9W479Br). Based on CA's dashboard (https://t.co/jRzxmvRGP2), we're about 100K short, but when that's reach, I guess the tier thresholds will be adjusted
@PauerAnissa@lapublichealth I think it's a factor they multiply to the raw case rate based on testing volume relative to median testing volume https://t.co/lh7BWrJV14
Our team will be doing a live demo of CRANE next week! Join us to learn how you can perform simple, forward-looking climate impact assessments for emerging technologies: https://t.co/i7TSjm8pFG
Vaccine efficacy in blocking infection & transmission
(I think) We can now estimate the (minimum) reduction in transmission from the Moderna vaccine.
Thread
tl;dr Moderna vaccine blocks >90% (87-93%) of infections & 91% (89-94%) of transmission.
*Critiques welcome!
@sfriedell @BrookeNalle @bessbell @troublesometots Love the Facebook group! It has been such an amazing resource for navigating baby sleep (and now toddler sleep) for me!
What's the difference in cost between a product that involves emitting carbon and an alternative that doesn’t?
This difference is what we call the Green Premium.
@BillGates explains why understanding it is key to making progress on climate change. https://t.co/gQPybKfcjX
@LunaCodes7 Standing up every hour. Setting up an ergonomic workspace (lumbar support cushion, footrest, keyboard tray, monitors at eye level and not too far back. And stretching and foam rolling at night.
I highly recommend people check county data when assessing their level of risk related to COVID. JHU and https://t.co/5t0aVfZD1t are sites I visit regularly.
The trillion dollar question. Why are COVID cases increasing while deaths are decreasing? The answer is simple. It's called Simpson's paradox and it's the result of incorrectly pooling data and arriving at a false conclusion. A thread 1/9 #COVID19#ThursdayThoughts
