The refugee camp in the town of Lavrio, #Greece, was violently evacuated on 5 July by the Greek police.
This camp has a special history. It has existed since 1949, bringing together the Kurdish community around the #Rojava democracy project.

It was a resolutely political camp, putting into practice an organisational model based on self-management.

For decades, the Kurds have been repressed and persecuted by states, led by Erdogan's Turkey, which has tried in vain to kill off their culture and their existence.
