Reminder for Student visa applicants: UKVI maintenance starts tonight at 21:00 UK time / 01:00 Pakistan time.
If you need to pay the IHS, progress an application, access your UKVI account or generate a share code, do not leave it to the maintenance window.
UK Student visa applicants: UKVI systems maintenance is scheduled for tomorrow night.
From 21:00 on 26 August to 03:00 on 27 August UK time, Student and Child Student services may be affected.
If possible, avoid submitting or progressing an application during this window.
@timeshighered AI can support assessment, but assigning grades is different. If comparable work can receive materially different marks depending on the model or prompt, human oversight is essential to academic fairness.
Before adding a Clearing choice, UCAS also says you should have the university’s permission to add that course.
One decision can remove the place you already hold, so sequence matters.

Changing university through Clearing?
Do not give up your existing place first and hope the new one works out.
UCAS says Decline My Place cannot be reversed.
Secure the new option before you release the place you already hold.
University deadlines can differ by course, applicant status and visa requirements.
Always check the institution’s own timetable rather than working backwards from the UCAS closing date.

International application deadlines are already arriving.
Today, Swansea lists 26 August as its standard international undergraduate application deadline for September 2026.
Dundee also has key international offer-holder requirements due today.
The UCAS final date is not the working deadline for every international applicant.

The report concerns ongoing UK-EU discussions, not a confirmed change to current tuition-fee arrangements.

EU student tuition fees are back in the UK-EU higher education discussion.
THE reports that fee treatment for EU students is among the issues being considered ahead of an autumn UK-EU summit.
No change has been agreed.
For students, negotiations and confirmed policy should not be treated as the same thing.
The earlier payment and CAS-document deadlines have now passed.
The published timetable currently lists:
Latest CAS issue date: 3 September 2026

UWS October 2026 PGR applicants: the CAS process is now in its final stage.
UWS lists 3 September as the latest CAS issue date for overseas applicants.
If your requirements are complete, keep checking your application updates and email for CAS communication.
The maintenance may affect:
• Immigration Health Surcharge payments
• Progressing an application
• Access to UKVI accounts
• Updating account details
• Generating share codes
For applicants in Pakistan, the window is approximately 1:00 AM–7:00 AM on 27 August.

The date relates to when the Graduate visa application is made, not simply when the course finishes. You must also meet the Graduate route eligibility requirements, including successful course completion and the required notification from your education provider.
Official guidance:

If you expect to qualify for the Graduate visa later this year, 31 December 2026 is an important date.
Apply on or before 31 December: 2 years
Apply from 1 January 2027: 18 months
PhD and other doctoral graduates remain eligible for 3 years.
Why this matters:
UKVI requires sponsors to report when a student completes a course earlier than the end date stated on the CAS.
The wider lesson is simple: course dates recorded for immigration purposes matter.

Today, THE reports that a small group of Manchester international students were reported to the Home Office after their course was recorded as ending earlier than expected.
For students, CAS dates are not just administrative details. They can affect immigration outcomes.
What we’re watching this week:
• Student visa processing and UKVI guidance
• CAS and latest-arrival deadlines
• Clearing and late applications
• Deposit and refund policy changes
• English-language requirements
We’ll highlight developments that actually affect what students need to do — not every headline that appears.
International students should not be judged only by tuition income or migration figures.
They contribute to research, classrooms, communities and the international links universities build for years afterwards.
Their value to UK higher education goes well beyond the fees they pay.
If your application is still under consideration, keep checking the email used for your visa application, including the junk/spam folder.
Also keep your university’s latest arrival date in mind.

Applying for a UK Student visa from outside the UK?
UKVI normally aims to make a decision within 3 weeks, but that is a standard processing timeframe, not a guaranteed decision date.
Some applications take longer where documents need verification, an interview is required or further checks are necessary.
