Over 90 volunteers across two 4hr shifts removed 99% of the debris covering the vernal pools and surrounding areas.
2 dumpsters filled, and enough adtl debris removed to fill 2-3 more.
Amazing to see what inspired and motivated folks can accomplish.
THANK YOU!!!
Botanists from @CNPS and @sbbotanicgarden relocated the Santa Ynez groundstar (Ancistrocarphus keilii)! This highly localized species was described as a distinct species in 2004. Since that time it had only been seen by one botanist, until now! https://t.co/BQyUlJhGO1
Passing along this event for you CA native plant lovers! CA natives are great for attracting 🐦🐞🦋🐝 & most use much less 💦than traditional low-water plants (like rosemary, lavender, etc.). Tickets are $25 @ https://t.co/HuJ8DK2daV. #NerdOutOnNatives🤓
Spring is here and everything feels fast & furious! I’m out here documenting rare plants I haven’t seen in a few years. Mapping, counting, & taking notes 📝
This is Red Rock Canyon monkeyflower. I described it in 2012 & it is one of my all time favorite flowers to see! 🌸
