It's an honor to receive this recognition.
At @CNSmd, we give emerging journalists hands-on experience and produce high-quality coverage of the issues that matter most.
It's how we #DoGood and this funding will help us do more of it. Thank you #UMD.
We're incredibly proud our Capital News Service has been named one of #UMD's six inaugural Do Good Campus Signature Initiatives!
The new designation recognizes programs that equip students to become social impact leaders, foster collaborative partnerships and translate academic work into tangible solutions.
With bureaus in D.C., Annapolis and College Park, @cnsmd is one of the largest newsrooms in Maryland. It gives #merrillmade students unique opportunities to learn by doing and plays a key role strengthening our democracy through information.
While in our news, broadcast, data and graphics, and audience engagement bureaus, our students ARE working journalists. These important experiential opportunities prepare Merrill College students for the careers they want — and this Do Good funding will provide stipend and programmatic support to ensure more students can take advantage of what CNS has to offer.
The inaugural cohort was selected from 27 proposals submitted by colleges and units across the university. Thank you to the Do Good Institute for recognizing the impactful work of our students and faculty at CNS!
