Workers in #SOCAR's oil and gas operations face an elevated risk of cancer due to prolonged exposure to carcinogens like benzene, PAHs, and asbestos. Studies suggest refinery and drilling staff may have a 20–40% higher risk of leukemia, lung, and bladder cancer compared to the general population.

Kazakhstan is one of the biggest polluters in the region and one of the main villains of the Caspian Sea.
The corrupt oligarchy that owns the oil companies is all playing on the same team as the neighboring countries' elites.
Drill the Earth to the end! Perhaps they have such a "right", but not after hosting the world climate event. Hypocrisy must also have some limits. #SaveThePlanet
The scale of the #CaspianSea's drying.
Drone footage from Dagestan shows how the water level in the Caspian has dropped over the past 7 years.
The water has receded by almost 30 meters.
How does that happen?
Mainly because of Big Oil — especially in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan — where oligarchic regimes exploit fossil fuels, disrupt the ecological balance, and drain water resources without accountability.
The Persian Gulf War #OilSpill (1991)
The world’s largest known oil spill was not an accident. On August 2, 1990, #Iraq’s leader, Saddam Hussein, ordered the invasion and occupation of Kuwait with the apparent aim of acquiring that nation’s large oil reserves, canceling a large debt Iraq owed Kuwait, and expanding Iraqi power in the region (see the Persian Gulf War article for more information). The United States amassed a coalition of British, French, Egyptians, Saudis, Syrians, and others to dislodge the Iraqis. After a massive air and ground campaign in January and February 1991, Iraqi forces retreated, but in the process they ignited hundreds of Kuwaiti oil wells, which burned for months. In a bid to deter the coalition from landing marines and other amphibious troops in northern Kuwait and southern Iraq, Iraqi forces released hundreds of millions of gallons of oil from Kuwait’s Sea Island terminal into the northern Persian Gulf before the end of hostilities. (Some sources estimate that between 380 million and 520 million gallons were poured into the gulf.)

MYANMAR EARTHQUAKE
NUMBER OF BODIES RECOVERED FROM THE RUBBLE REACHES 3,003
60 MOSQUES DESTROYED
ACCORDING TO CURRENT REPORTS, OVER 500 MUSLIMS DIED TRAPPED UNDER THE RUBBLE DURING FRIDAY PRAYERS
Myanmar’s military commander, General Min Aung Hlaing, announced on Tuesday, March 30, that a massive earthquake struck the country on the last Friday of Ramadan, causing significant destruction. He stated that at least 500 Muslims were trapped under the rubble and lost their lives while praying.
The BBC reported that at least 60 mosques collapsed as a result of the earthquake. It also mentioned that Myanmar’s military commander made these statements during a phone call with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. During the conversation, they discussed the devastating earthquake, which struck Myanmar with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale, causing destruction not only in Myanmar but also in Thailand.
The earthquake's epicenter was in the Mandalay region, severely affecting Sagaing, Magway, Pago, Naypyidaw, Shan State, and other areas of the country. Its destructive impact extended as far as Thailand, where people in Bangkok—over a thousand kilometers away—are still experiencing aftershocks.
The United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund announced an initial aid package of $5 million to support search and rescue operations following the earthquake, which caused the collapse of many homes, places of worship, monasteries, bridges, and roads in #Myanmar.
