Maybe things have changed (I don't think they have). If you went on the mat with something taped up, the other guys was going after it. Within the rules, whistle to whistle, you are fair game. No one feels sorry for you. This sport is primal. It's a survival of the fittest from start to finish. You get tired? Too bad. You aren't 100%? too bad. If you are the slowest wildebeest because you tweaked your knee, you are dinner.
Hopefully this helps some understand the mentality and the mindset of the college wrestler. The sportsmanship is the love and respect for the fight, not to take it easy on your opponent.

BadAss Offensive Coordinators repeat the same play in close games over and over again until it is stopped! Running the same play ten times for a TD is brilliant! Be a winner, not a guru” It means you’re smart enough to find something that works and repeat it till they stop it&Win!
Winners ask for advice…Listen…think it over…Decide…Take Action…Adjust…Take Action Again…Adjust…And the process continues until they die…Always tinkering to find a better way…Never believing there’s only one way. Worst answer ever: It’s the way I’ve always done it
BadAss Receiver coaches demand every catch to “ exaggerate the look in all the way to the tuck away” not just into the hands…This creates a habit of less drops and more confidence. Habits will be what players do under pressure so create winning habits
