Day one of practice never gets old.

I began my coaching career in 1999. As I enter my 27th year in coaching, my 21st as a college head coach, and my 18th @SCMensBall , I’m just as excited about the first day of practice as ever.

I still love the challenge of looking at a group of individuals and finding a way to mold them into a team. I love watching young men improve, come together, and discover what they are capable of accomplishing.

I’m incredibly honored and thankful for the opportunity to influence young people while doing something I love at a place that has given so much to me and my family. @buildersports is a special place, and I never take for granted the privilege of coaching our guys and representing this community.

We hear a lot about “kids today,” but my experience is that young people still crave discipline and consistency. They want to be challenged, coached, and held accountable—but they also expect their leaders to be accountable. I appreciate that. It keeps me motivated, prepared, and humble. It reminds me that I must continue growing and bring my best every day because our students deserve nothing less.

Year 27. Day one. Still grateful. Still learning. Still loving the opportunity.

I’m incredibly grateful and honored to receive the Coach Hutch Passion Award from @PhDHoops

Basketball has taken me around the world and given me a lifetime of memories, friendships, and opportunities that I’ll cherish forever. Through PhD Hoops, I’ve had the privilege to coach in Austria, Spain, France, Costa Rica, and Barbados. Every trip has taught me something about the game, different cultures, leadership, and what it means to represent something bigger than yourself.

A huge thank you to PhD Hoops USA and especially @RichieSchueler Your leadership, vision, and commitment to the game continue to create opportunities that change lives.

I’m thankful for every coach, player, family member, and friend who has been part of this journey.
